Hope y'all haven't forgotten about our new little red and white miniature Pinto colt, Rosie's Rockin' Cowboy, aka. Rocky!! If you remember, we almost had to euthanize his mama, Rosie, as she coliced severely post partum after a retained placenta. As you can see, Rosie has recovered marvelously and is putting on weight and feeling much better!
Rocky is already trying to mount his mama and giving her a real run for her money...but she's only had five colts so she knows what to expect! ;-)
Here's our new precious little baby boy at three weeks old!

Ha...good try, Dana! ;-)

Terry, new pics of Rowdy are on the thread about the silver coloring...he's very nice...I'm seriously thinking about having Rowdy tested to see if he's chocolate Pally and then keeping Rowdy, Rocky and Cowboy as studs and not foaling out mares anymore. Too stressful!!

I received a heartbreaking call this morning from the client who bred their mini mare, Roxie, to Cowboy (Rowdy and Rocky's sire) last year. Their mare delivered a stillborn foal this morning while at the vet's to be foaled out. She wasn't due til August 5th. This is the second time this has happened to that mare. How sad. My heart goes out to them because we ourselves lost our first baby out of Rosie at about the same gestational age.
Send your healing thoughts to these clients...she occasionally reads the board here. They have two Rojo Tejas fillies.

Sorry about your clients stillborn. Very sad.

Your little guy is just too cute!! I love mini's. Mine always manages to make me smile each morning no matter how grumpy I am! :D

Well, you ought to see Rocky now ...after it rained all morning. He isn't so pretty anymore...he's a muddy mess...and I don't think he likes it much!!

I could only imagine how difficult that kind of thing would be...So much anticipation (and not to mention money...though most of us are not thinking about the money at those times)and excitement well up for almost 12 months, and to have it end like that is devastating. That’s one of my biggest fears with breeding, only topped by losing the mare. Again prayers going out to the family, the mare, and anyone who has had do go through this type of struggle.
Carol how is the mare?

She is fine, Stephanie...they were picking her up today to bring her home. It just breaks my heart...we had as much hope for this foal as they did. So sad.

My Melinda lost her foal. We got her already bred to a largo buckskin. That baby was so pretty and full of legs! I know somewhat of how she must feel. Melinda morned in her stall for days, not eating or having the will to do anything. I had to actually hand feed her to get her to eat.

As for the little boy, I would just love to put him in my pocket!!! ;-)
