It finally arrived today - appears to be well made, comfy although heavier than I imagined... I will be riding in the moonlight tonight to try it out....

Southwest Saddlery "Bareback Treeless Saddles

I was looking for soemthing to keep me clean when I ride bareback (my preferred riding)... but bareback pads do not have fenders, or very good girth rigging frankly... I didnt want to spend mega bucks and this met all my requirements..

I think there is still one of the suede models left on ebay... the newer slick leather ones are not what I was looking for..

Any suggestions for what kind of pad to use with this thing??? I havent decided if I will use a western or english girth... have been thinking of an endurance pad of some sort or maybe a pad for treeless dressage..?????

I highly recommend the Skito pads, or the Classic Equine Contourpedic pads for the treeless saddles. A bit pricey, but VERY good for your horse's back.

Stefanie, that is the most upholstered, squishy, soft-looking saddle I have ever seen. Are you getting soft?

Looks nice, now I want one. I 'might' be getting soft. Or at least, getting 'ready' to get soft.

I think "Oatie" has you confused with me...that saddle has more padding...No, no wait a minute...my arse has more padding than any saddle could ever have and still be "rideable" :D

Well..my NM trip got cancelled and moved to next Wednesday...which is not a totally bad thing as I need to take my dog to the vet right now as I think he has a painful sticker in his ear...see ya all later..

That looks pretty cushy and being suede, should ride well too. I like that death strap on the top...reminds me of a bareback bronc rigging.

My favorite pad is the cotton ventillator that I buy at Stateline. Well, used to buy there...I just went to look up the link and can't find it listed. I did see they are having a "Rebirth"...hmmm :confused I wonder if they are now a born again tack store? Staying IN business?? Anyone hear?

I'm with Terry, I have plenty of "Self-padding" but that doesn't mean I dont' appreciate a cushy saddle. Enjoy.
