WE have a John Deere 2305 tractor and I love it but it was just too big to get around in the smaller areas of my yard.

Went to lowes last week and got Ellis a fathers day present with my winnings from a scratch off. We got a Husquavarva mower brought it home and I immediatley tried it. MAN was that thing dangerous!!!
Went forward just fine. But heaven forbid if you needed to back up. when pressed the pedal to go in reverse and took your foot off the pedal the darn DID NOT stop and you had to jam the forward pedal as fast as you could and then you got whiplash when it kicked in forward.
Plus the fact with that one you rode in the eye of a constant hurricane. instead of throwing your grass out the side like MOST mowers are SUPPOSED to do it sent it straight UP and you were the center so your eyes stayed full of dirt and you could not see where you were going.

ROTFL We called Lowes and immediatley returned and I told Elis Just get a John Deere WE did and I finally got to try it today, After doing my mowing I was dying to try out my part of the toys. I had also gotten a sweeper. MAN that is awesome. I swept up about 15 huge piles of leaves and put them in my driveway in about an hour. I love it and my yeard looks great! Now if Ellis will only get my spreader aerator together I can spread seed, or fertilize the yard and at the same time aereate the soil.

Well guess I had better go take a bath I am sorta dusty.

Oh yes while I was working outside Ellis and our son was putting sheetrock in the ceiling of the addition. They also insulated and sheetroced the front addition as well. That one we built around our hottub. I can't wait til it is done so I can use that tub again.

I took some pics and will post later.

won 4k from a scratch off so I decided to invest it. In Ellis, I feel I put it to good use. Got a john deere mower and 2 attachments. Put some in savings and got 5 more scratch offs @ $10 each. Won $500 and Cashed that in put $100 in gas for truck $300 in bank and the rest 5 $10 scratch offs and got a $100 a $40 and a $50 for a total of $190 and have not cashed those in yet but I feel it is not the right time. God blesses me. I spend less and less each time and always put some in savings.

So I feel if I can pay a bill or purchase something that can be used then I feel it is a good thing. I may go several years and never get a ticket then get one. if i lose I stop for a few more years. If I win I try to put it to good use.

So right now I feel I am done for a good long time. 8-)
like my sewing I have have the right feeling. Oh and not to mention I feel 5 is my lucky number

That is my story and I am sticking to it!

That is great Leila!!!!!

My Hubby bought a sweeper a couple of weeks ago - it is GREAT! We hve about 2 arcres of grass to mow, and it usually gets too long for it to just sit on the lawn - I took 3 bags full off just the front a couple weeks ago - man does it make the job easier, and makes the lawn look so much nicer too!!!!

Gee - I spent $5- on tickets yesterday, won back a whopping $2.00 - need to cash the ticket and get 2 more I think......

Leila that is so fantastic!!! Aren't good "tools" wonderful and well worth the money. I know you're having a great time!

I bought the walk behind John Deere self propelled mower 8.5 horsepower for our small farm. (I know people say we're crazy but I need the exercise) It has the castor wheels which are well worth the extra money because it will mow around anything. I don't like the throttle because it's made for a man with huge hands but I'll think of something to make it easier to reach. I like it because it's a mulching mower so doesn't throw stuff all over and it does cut anything. It's supposed to be speed adjustable but that feature doesn't work well. Lowes says I need to take it to a John Deere shop because it needs adjusting. We'll see!!

I have a JD riding mower. I love it EXCEPT the bagging feature. It bags it by blowing it up a chute and into twin bags on the back. If you go more than at a snail's pace, it clogs up solid. I cannot STAND going at a snail's pace, so I wind up just blowing the clippings around. I think I need either a mulching attachment or a sweeper like you got, Leila.

So the question is: which is better? Mulcher or sweeper?

Jane" I am no expert but I wanted the sweeper for the leaves under the trees so I could get grass growing there as well.

BUT thing is the sweep fills fast and with the weight the wheels drag because we have sugar sand and when the bag is heavy the wheels are fighting a battle because the rotating brush is dragging in the sand
I sweep I stop lift bag (easy to do) take to drive way empty then lower back down to sweep more/ I would say the mulcher would be good. Ellis said once we get a nice grassy yard then we can use a mulcher

Out grass is finally coming in nicely since my grrother moved out with his family. less traffic

I hate bags and discharge chutes also. We've never done bags since we tried it with the first mower that had one and said "Forget that!!" so the discharge chute blows the stuff all over the driveway and road and makes a terrible mess. The mulching feature on the John Deere is much much better. Just a few little grass sprigs go outside the mower and the sand doesn't fly all over also. We have sand too here in FL and a discharge chute would be terrible with it.

I agree with the mulching feature!!! It's so much easier AND much better for your yard, helps it maintain moisture and returns nutrients to the ground.

But CONGRATULATIONS on your win Leila! That is awesome! I never win anything!
