These pix are by Greg West**** Thank you so much Greg

I arrived Thursday evening to set up the booth and prepare for the weekend, although the show was in full swing by the time I arrived.

The first thing I noticed was that the classes were not only full of horses, but they were of great quality, including the A/O classes.

The traffic of spectators was not sizeable on Thursday night, but picked up on Friday, and then on Saturday night.... Well I witnessed something I want to see more of....
Around 7 p.m. the parking lot started filling up with cars. Families filed in with their children, and other horse enthusiast dropped in to watch the show. Someone did some great advertising of this event. 8-) Everyone seemed to enjoy the Parade of Flags, Cowboy Mounted Shooting performed by a National Champion Paso Fino, and the stallion Exhibition.

I had a great time meeting everyone, and seeing others again.

I'll be back w/more commentary and pix later.

Lori isn't that a fantastic show!!!! Thanks so much for the photos Greg and looking forward to seeing how your guys did in the show!

We hate to have missed it this year for the first time in a long time. It's so well done and even the little cafe has great food. You may or may not know that NC has the second largest number of paso finos in the US.

So glad you had a great time!!! We LOVE that show!

Do those kids in leadline just get led around? How old are they?

Do those kids in leadline just get led around? How old are they?

I think they must walk and corto on the lead line, and they go over the board.

Each participant gets a ribbon or medal or w/e they give out for that class.

I can't recall the age limit off the top of my head, but I want to say....up to 7?

I'm sure someone can correct me on that.

WALK/CORTO LEADLINE: age 6 & under (age as of 10/1 of that current year).......safety equestrian helmet require and a halter over the bridle with leadline attached. A walk and corto are called for, but there is no penalty if the horse deosn't go faster then a walk. Some riders are very small (I've seen age 2) and inexpereinced and the handler keeps the horse at a walk. Going over the board is not required. A second person is allowed to walk on the other side of the horse for the safety of the young rider. All young riders get a blue ribbon for participating. The judges will often chat to the riders in line-up: such as to: How old are you? What's your name? What is your horse's name? How long have you've been riding?

This is a non-pointed PFHA class. :D

If you had seen the joy on the faces of the participants when they first came into the class, you would have been enthralled. Unfortunately I didn't get any of those "moments", but it was such a fun class for them, and the little boy who won (I think) was so "professional". The little girl, was a miniature Lori,' " working the crowd."! Delightful.

Rita MaGaha did a great job of organizing the show. She pulled some strings and got live TV coverage in our area, an amazing feat. I've never seen so many people at a Paso Fino show as I saw there on Saturday night.
Greg and I had an incredible show. Showing at Asheville is great facilities, great people, and great money. Who says it doesn't pay to show? We have paid for our show at least 2 years, I think maybe three?

We got 378 total points and are expecting a check for more than double what we paid to show. ASHEVILLE is THE show to attend, in my book.
The Piedmont Futurity is a great way to earn money showing. You do not have to be a Piedmont member to earn futurity dollars, you only have to have an offspring of a futurity nominated stallion.
It was great seeing some of my APF friends as I ran around at a dead run most of the show, with 5 horses there of mine to keep up with, and helping out a few friends with theirs. :D Thanks to each of you that attended, and a big thanks to Pasogirlz, Galopando TV and Platinum Horse productions for the coverage of the show. Galopando is running the show again on their website, starting today. If you missed the 2007 Piedmont Classic Show, you can watch it replayed on Galopando's site:

From Galopando TV:
Please visit www.galopandotv.com and click on Galopando TV Channel

Retransmission of the Show will star at 8:30 PM on Monday June 25 through the rest of the week.

The team work displayed by everyone was very impressive, and I hope to see more colaborations like this in the future. I hope that we can set a new standard in the industry where we all pull together for the good of the breed. 8-)

And Thank YOU Felix for all your hard work. 8-)

I can hardly wait till I am in Tennessee so that I can attend this show next year. Does anyone have any idea how many horses were actually showing?

It is exciting to see a show with such an enthusiastic crowd and to know that you can win money and actually offset some of the expenses is definitely an enticement! Good for Piedmont!

I did not know that you got an interview with Rosalie. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!! As for my interview, well, I looked up there when I was in the BF mares class as I had requested after that class to do the interview because I looked like, well, bad, the day before. And apparently you were all still sleeping as no one was around. Will you be in Conyers? Perhaps we can hook up there. I really would like to do one for you. And since you have Rosalie now, someone should go down to Valdosta and get one with George as well.

For whoever asked, the last number that I heard was 409 horses with around 550 stalls.

And I can't believe all you guys were there and I did not get to meet anyone.

I think everyone was working so hard, it was difficult to hang out together.

I know that I had no time to spend in the barn, and didn't run into shirtless Juan (except he was wearing a shirt AND hat so I almost didn't recognize him) until Sunday afternoon when I was getting ready to leave. He was so busy working in the barn, no time to venture around the vendor area. I only ran into Cindy at the end of the day and I don't blame her for not hanging out long after the show. Between running the Showtime booth, doing interviews, and all the socializing that happens walking from place to place, I was running crazy. Galopando was taping every class plus all the interviews on breaks. And just try coordinating all the people being interviewed to coincide w/the breaks.

Well, could be because you rode in every other class?? Geez, every time I had a chance to look in the ring you were there. I'd still be sleeping if I were you...are the saddle pads dry yet?
