Haha. I'm a super-dork. :P Get it? Instead of the Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search...oh, man, never mind.

Okay, my new-found APF.com friends, let's start with some background. I am sixteen, have eight years riding experience, and am IN LOVE WITH PASO FINOS! -waves big sign around enthusiastically!- I live in Southern MA, and have, so far, seen/ridden two Paso Finos in northern CT, right by the MA border - Lise Wood's pony children!

I rode her older gelding, Al, and her two older mares, Maya de Mardena and Montenisa. The gelding was definitely NOT for me - he had some stuff going on and I wouldn't want to buy something like that, because I plan to be trail riding as often as possible. He was also just a tad pushy, and I've had my fill of pushy horses, thanksmuch.

Maya de Mardena, a bay 12 year old, was like a little sports car horse. She has buttons, man! I kept pressing different buttons by accident, and this little girl just turned herself inside out for me, even if we were kind of confusing each other (I ride western with an english background, so I keep my legs close to the horse's sides - found out you can't do that with most Pasos!). Once I learned that I had to keep my leg off of her completely, though, we had a ball! Maya's just a little bit petite for me, but I really liked the fact she would turn the second I turned my head, and eventually, when I even thought about turning.

The last mare I rode was Montenisa, a 19 (!!!!) year old mare. Don't be fooled by her age, though! My lord, that mare has GO! She and I FLEW around Lise's little indoor, and both of us were just grinning ear to ear. She even gave a little buck after I asked her to canter! She was saying: here's 19 for you!! She was just fun. She had the most Paso presence, and the traditional Spanish look. She had me drooling even before I sat on top of her. She was also the smoothest of all three, but I think that was because I figured out how to collect her better than Maya, and Al has the suspensory ligament issue.

This is two of me on Maya - my stepfather had the camera, so therefore, there are only two good pictures -__-;

http://www.freewebs.com/creative_muse/pictures/MeMaya1.jpg
Ignore me, please, I look ridiculous!

http://www.freewebs.com/creative_muse/pictures/MeMaya.jpg
She was happy to just stand there as I talked to Lara and Lise. That's what I was doing when my stepfather took this pictures -eyeroll-

Also, I am considering doing something slightly crazy. I KNOW my parents aren't going to want to shuttle me up to PA to look at the Pasos up there at Feather Hill and one other place...uh...Ro-No Ranch. There are two horses up there that I am looking at, and I like them a LOT - just by sight and what's been said of them. How many of you have bought horses online? How many of you have had successes? What would you recommend for this type of horse buying? Is it completely insane? There are so few Pasos for sale around this area that fit what I want that it's hard to keep searching, because there never is anything!

I am looking at Desviada del Prado here: http://www.ro-noranch.com/sales.html (thanks Centauress!!)

and Viveza de Mile here: http://www.featherhills.com/Mares%20For%20Sale.htm (thanks, Centauress and ErinC!)

I promise I'll bring home LOTS of pictures on Saturday after I ride Lise's horses again, especially some ones of me on Montie.

Thus begins Amanda's Ultimate Paso Fino Search!

...I need a life XD

I would suggest you ride a lot more Pasos before you even entertain the thought of buying one. This is a breed you need to research a bit before you commit to buy. Getting educated on the breed is key to understanding them and how to ride them properly and will ensure you end up with the horse that is right for you. IMHO.

Love the line in your signature. Made me giggle!

I think you're right, to an extent - I mean, all horses ride differently, no matter what breed. The first Paso I rode was actually kind of lazy and (GASP) dead-sided! I've read everything I can get my little paws on about the breed. I totally agree on the research part - it's like with dogs (sort of). You don't want to walk into getting a puppy of a pure breed that you know nothing about, and if it turns out to be unsuitable...it's an animal, something living and breathing - NOT a toy - that you can just dispose of!

This is my first horse, and I really want to be as careful as possible (that's why I'm only half-entertaining this whole idea of getting a horse sight unseen...not even really half. Possibly a quarter. LOL!). I'm not going into this lightly - I've seen what happens when someone just buys a horse on a whim. It's doesn't always turn out to be flowers and sunshine..and, hell, even when you research the hell out of a horse/go back a million times to ride, you might still turn out with something you don't fully click with and end up having problems with!

But it doesn't hurt to be cautious!

Thanks for your input, Barbwire (lol. Cute!). I appreciate it a lot!

Amanda :D

You know - there is a show in Topsfield in August... I think Nola will compete there. You should call her and ask to see if she is. If so, see if she'll bring Desviada for you to try. ;-)

I love the pics too by the way. I remember Montasina when she was still a young mare - boy do I feel OLD! I am familiar with all 3 horses and have ridden 2 of them. Enjoy your next trip and take lots of pics!

I had my eye on Viveza when I was shopping. I love her bloodlines. Feather Hills had just gotten her when I was there, but I think she was only barely 2 and I was really looking for a riding horse. I would definately take your time and try out lots before you buy. And have fun shopping!

Oh - and Nola trained my mare Marci, and boarded my mare Lucy.....and if I still have 'Bay Boy' when he is old enough, he will go there too for training.....

:confused If you live in southern Maine (BTW - I was born in northern Maine) how do you drive UP to Pennsylvania?? Now to me, north is UP and south is DOWN...but then the world has turned upside down since I was your age, so I'm really not sure any more.

In order to find the perfect horse for you, we need to know more about what you want.

Do you want to trail ride, show, or both?
Do you LOVE hair, long beautiful hair? Here hair, there hair, everywhere hair? (get the idea?)
Do you want a classic Iberian look or a refined look?
Do you have a color preference?
Do you have an age/training preference?
Do you want a Fino, Performance, or Pleasure horse?

See...it gets complicated!

You're seriously old enough to remember Montie as 'young'? Really? You definitely don't look it Kim!!

I think I'll mention that to Nola when she e-mails me back - I e-mailed her earlier when you e-mailed me the link. That would be cool, because one, I'd be able to go to the Topsfield show, which would be neat, and I get to try out a horsie :D

Which two did you ride, Kim?

LauraS, I really like the look of Feather Hills horses, it's just...well, risk-taking during this whole horse buying thing isn't really on my list of things to do, and, honestly, getting a horse without trying it at least once makes me a little nervous. If I could get someone to try her out for me and report back...hmm...

Also, have any of you delt with Paso Fino del Fuego Farm in Middleboro, MA? What about Petersham Paso in Petersham, MA? I just looked on the NEPFHA and found that one (I knew about del Fuego beforehand - contacted them, too, but no reply so far!).

Amanda :D

Well I am the person who foaled and raised desi..(I work for the man who owns her) I just got the ok today to let Nola take her to Cobelskill show in NY, not to show but because she is for sale (think its the weekend of July 13th??)
Contact Nola and I bet she will send a video. Also she is right across the PA practically so she isnt that far.She has lots of trails to ride which would be a better test ride than at a show grounds.
Desi is for sale because there are too many horses here for me to ride, and I need to get numbers down as the Boss and wife are in their 80's and some health problems are popping up.I cannot say how many more years this farm will be around.

I live in southern Massachusetts, not Maine ^.~!! Up, down, whatever. SOMEHOW to PA! There, does that work?

Yes, I want HAIR!!! and lots of it!! I honestly don't care what the horse looks like (although, I am partial to the Iberian look with loootts of mane and tail in a dark bay!), but I want a bold, willing, fun, and smart trail partner between the ages of 5 and 12 (neg.) who has a lot of get up and go, a good, steady gait, a good set of brakes, sensitive sides/mouth, and a willingness to have a total BALL on the trails! So, I assume that means pleasure horse. Hehe. Complicated, but dang, this is fun!!

lisa, where is the Cobleskill show?

Erin, Maya and Montie were two totally different horses - you're so right! They were both a huge blast in their own special ways! :D

Okay -pantpant- This is hard to keep up with!

Well Amanda..before you buy, you need to ride LOTS of horses. Decide what kind you like, because they come in all shapes, sizes and varieties.

Take your time, shop, ride, don't take a checkbook with you shopping. Of course, if I lived near you...I'd take you firmly under the arm and take you shopping. Shopping is so much MORE FUN when it's someone else's money!

For the record, it's UP north, DOWN south, BACK east and OUT west. It only gets complecated when you change elevation and then UP is UP and DOWN is DOWN regardless. (who would have guessed it would be so complicated???)

It's always more fun when someone else is paying!!

I'm going to try calling both del Fuego and Petersham Paso tomorrow to see if they've got anything for me, and I think I'm going to end up riding with some of the wonderful ladies that live in MA as well. I definitely want to get my behind in the saddle of many a Paso, asap!

Vineza is nice for sure great confo for a serious riding horse. I have seen some taller/larger horses from Majestuso( Mel knows one =Cowboy Ed's Alto) and I think for mind and heart=the double Coral horses have dispositions unsurpassed. If and since you asked. paso finos are like Arabs and Andalusians and they will grow until they are 5-6 maybe even seven years. You are young and in a hurry so I see both sides of the coin. the older grey horse is ready. A companion horse will be with you for a long time so shop and shop for a while/enjoy but be certain. You will know. Contact Michele Branson that bred the Mile horses and ask her about them Centauress knows Nola's horses she is a good one for a referance as is Erin. Meet Erins horse Pillo and Brenda Hall will match you up maybe even better if the mare is too young. Brenda has many horses.I like lots of them myself.

When I was looking for perfect "horse", I tried a bunch of pasos at a breeder's but they were too young & uneducated for me. I considered and rejected one paso before I met Primero. Even though I know some people on the board, buy sight unseen and untried..... I would not recommend it for those of us who are not professionals in this business. There is always the little something emotional that will make a good match or not..... and until you are "on" the horse - you won't know.

xpasocortox

GEEEEEE, just what I need another mouthy teenager wanting to ride with me.

LOL, Terri, when you get me into a big group, you might have a hard time getting me to talk at all! I'm a little shy in person, especially around adults that I like, because I don't want to come across as an idiot!

I have another question. I am not a small girl, by any stretch. Well, I'm short, but, y'know...not exactly the slimmest thing. I'm pretty fit for someone my weight (thank you, having to do the stalls for ten horses!!), and no one tells me I look the weight that I am, but, still, it's there. Should I be worried about how much weight my horse is carrying? I don;t plan on getting a big heavy western saddle, and I don't plan to really carry a lot with me in the saddle, so...

Lots of Pasos are just above 14 hands. Height-wise, I don't think I'm going to see much of a problem, but I don't know about weight-wise. Should I be looking into the stockier-bred Paso? Or should I do just the opposite and stick with the finer ones?

Sporthorse, thanks for the input on the two other mares. I don't know if 'in a hurry' is the right way to put it - I DO enjoy going fast (now anyway!). I honestly don't know if I could handle a greenie. I've a lot of riding experience in many different fields, and some natural horsemanship instruction on the ground, but other than that...I just don't want to ruin a good horse by not fully knowing what I'm doing with a greenie. I'd love to have a younger horse, in the long run, because that just means more quality years, but...

You get my point.

Amanda :D

CarolU
06-28-2007, 02:15 PM
Amanda, you don't look overly heavy for a 14.2 hh Paso, which is a pretty average size, and there are larger horses, 15 hh up to 15.2hh. If you figure 25% weight bearing, that is 200 lbs on an 800 lb horse, 250 lbs on a 1000 lb horse. As an example right now I have 15hh horse that weight tapes at 1031 lbs. There are a lot of endurance, treeless, and english saddles that weigh around 10 lbs.

So, just shop for a larger horse and you'll be fine, even with saddle and 'stuff.'

Call Nola - she will help you as much as possible. She is honest and reputable in the Paso World. Plus she comes all the way to Florida to do my horses' teeth :D

You don't look heavy at all from your pictures  But if you're worried about weight then look for a wider stockier horse with heavier bone rather than a more refined horse.

As everyone says, ride as many horses as possible so that you can find the one best suited to your personality and ease of riding. You've chosen the right breed though ;-)

I kind of figured that was the way to go, but I wasn't sure. I'll keep all of that in mind when I'm shopping!

Everyone's telling me to either call Nola or call Brenda at Feather Hill - I just wish I were closer to them!! I really, really don't want to buy a horse sight unseen. I just think that's way too dangerous for a first time buyer, and I just don't want to screw this up (how many times have I said that now? Oh well - better to be cautious!!)

I'm about 165 (and, obviously, not too worried about letting people know about it!) on a good day, 170 on PMS week (guh. The one time I hate being female...) Everyone tells me I don't look that heavy, but I'm used to being a lot heavier with all of it just being fat, and none muscle, so it's hard to remember that I CAN fit through most doorways now, LOL!

I weighed anywhere from 165-175 when I rode desi and TRUST me ..it didnt bother her.
I too would advise against sight unseen..actually more 'horse unrode' especially with a gaited horse, and even more so because there are so many different 'types' of Pasos out there.Test ride until you know what you want. And yes its gonna mean some travel.

Carol Nelson
06-28-2007, 04:16 PM
Welcome to the board, and no, you are not too heavy to ride a Paso...just do like Carol says and buy a lightweight saddle...and look for a horse with good bone density and body mass. Doesn't have to be tall to be able to carry you, just has to have substance. ;-)

I've bought off the Internet many times sight unseen and been pretty satisfied with what I've gotten HOWEVER I am a breeder...I do not require that my horses be rideable. I look at photos and videos of conformation and gait and search for excellent temperament.
Now IF I were looking for a great riding horse, I would most definitely want to ride the horse several times, in different circumstances, say on a trail AND in an arena before I spent the kind of money you are looking at spending.

So good luck and have fun...and P.S. take along your helmet!! Lately I'm seeing too many people falling off of horses that aren't their's. ;-) :D

06-28-2007, 04:22 PM
Gah!! People ride other people's horses without helmets?! Yikes!! My riding instructor rides her six year old APHA stallion without a helmet, and that terrifies me...I HATE it when people ride without helmets! I've been working at a lesson barn for too long - you always wear helmets, always lead the horse with the reins over it's head, and NEVER WEAR FLIPFLOPS -winces at bad memories-

See, that's my train of thought as well - I want a riding horse, so buying one without riding it is kind of silly...isn't it? Hmm.

Hi Amanda, It is hard to buy sight unseen, but in our area where there aren't many pasos, sometimes it's a necessity! I would definately trust Nola or Brenda (at Feather Hills). They are both honest, and are able to judge horses accurately and honestly. When I bought my mare from Feather Hills I had a very detailed list of the qualities I wanted, and Brenda did a great job at picking out the right horse for me. I did go down (Carol, did you notice my correct terminology  ) and try her out. I've had her for almotst 2 yrs and am very happy with her. I believe from both places you will get a very well trained trail paso. And Nola also trains for show. But definately ride as many as you can. They are all different in how their gait feels when riding. And get video of everything (ground work, being caught, saddled, riding alone and riding in a group, etc!). Another person that is in western PA is Rick Shaffer. He is very honest, and is a Paso judge. He trains both trail and show. Here is his web site, as just another option......

Amanda, I too would be leary of buying without seeing the horse 1st, however, I DO trust Brenda. I also want to encourage you not to be afraid to buy young. I have a friend that bought a 3yr old filly from Brenda with 30 days training. My friend is NO trainer, just a backyard trail rider. She was nervous buying so young for the same reasons you are talking about. We brought the filly home in November and in January my friend had foot surgery and couldn't walk, much less mount for months. So the horse hung around all winter as a lawn ornament. Then in April she sent her out for another 30 days training at Del Fuego. Got her home and has been trail riding her ever since. Unfortunately my friend doesnt' have alot of time to work with her, she gets on her at most 2 days a week. But when she does ride her we head out to the cranberry bogs and have no problems. She needs conditioning and miles, but she is willing and cooperative and the stronger she gets, the better her gait is.

It has been my experience (admittedly limited) that Pasos are in general people pleasers (yes, we can all name an exception to the rule) and train up very quickly. I also suspect that it is easier to work with a horse that some one hasn't "messed up yet" than working with one with "baggage". I am not suggestion you buy one that hasn't been backed yet, but I wouldn't hesitate to take one with 30-90 days training undersaddle (as long as he/she has had proper ground work done too). I bought Rio as a coming 4 yr old. He did have a lot of training, but was very very green in the real world. He is the BEST horse, I've even had. The horse of a lifetime.

So keep an open mind

Way to go Laura!!! (see, direactions IS important! ;-) LOL)

I'm going to agree with Terri about some young horses. I would say that Rosie (4-year-old) is probably the safest horse here. I can carry flags and ride her in a big grass skirt. I think it really depends on the horse, their personality, their handling and training. One thing I have found is that horses that have multiple riders tend to get bad habbits from them, and start to 'test' each new rider. So often times, you are better off with a younger horse just out of training PROVIDED it was a good trainer. I know I live a LOOOOONG way from you, but I'd tend to agree with going to Brenda, Nola or Rick for a horse. They are all good trail horse trainers.

Carol, Terri, and Laura, you all have really good points there - a non-messed up horse is probably a lot easier to deal with then one already set in its ways. I guess I'm just super nervous about getting a young horse because, like I've said, I'm kind of going this alone (save for you guys!!) and have ZERO help in the immediate area.

Lots of things to consider in that area - not in the least being that young horses are not my forte (yet) and I'm pretty young myself, so...it's kind of strange to me to even be considering a horse under the age of five (which still seems super young for me), but the option is there.

I have e-mails out to Brenda, Nola, and Rick. Waiting on replies. We'll see what they have to say on the subject!

Sounds like you are doing the right thing. I would ride any horse you could in your area just for the experience. Then, when you feel prepared, take a road trip to PA for some more rides. ....if you haven't found something closer. Seems like Featherhills has enough horses to get a good education in one day :D Hopefully you would "click" with a horse on that trip.

I bet some MA girls could be talked into a road trip :D (ducking as manure is thrown at me)

I too am leary about buying without a test ride. I had a lease on my mare with option to buy and did buy her.

Good luck and welcome!!

I'm sure you've seen this before...this was last year in Halloween, she is the Pumpkin Patch and I was the Great Pumpkin.

I have to say that I didn't ride her in this class, to say I/we were stressed that afternoon would be putting it mildly.
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/23115Rosie40Sml.jpg

And here she is in the class just before that class, Trail. I'm not sure how many green horses you could do this safely on, but she was one.
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/23115Rosie28Sml.jpg

All the early work I did with this horse really paid off. She is calm, excellent on trails, goes in/over anything, lets you carry anything, and is pretty unflapable. She even goes in that scary huge arena at the last show, all by herself, the first time, and she'd never been in it before. No balking, no arguements.

This is for Amanda. Lynn Gallup (Senior Judge) has this on her site. Don't forget to scroll down and read the pitfalls too.

GREAT pics Carol! Those are so cute! Pretty mare, too! You are so lucky to have such a good mare at such a young age! My riding instructor's Appy/TB (Snickers - I generally ride her when I'm there) is eight and still has some bucking issues and is still a teensy bit green.

Thanks for the article!!

I didn't even THINK of that, Jodi!! I guess it didn't even cross my mind because I wouldn't ever think of asking people to do that for me. I have a feeling all of us here in MA are going to be getting together in the coming weeks, and, who knows, if we all get along, MAYBE I can beg/plead/cry/look cute enough to get a PA trip out of them...just kidding!!

Well, Brenda e-mailed me back with some more information about three of her horses that I inquired about - one being a brother (half or full, I can't remember) to your Pillo, Erin. She's saying a lot of good things about the bay mare I was most interested in. Still waiting on replies from Nola and Rick!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!! You honestly do not know how much this means to me to have so many people willing to help out! I'm kind of overwhelmed!!

You might not have noticed, but we are a bit addicted to horse shopping.

I don't know any 8 yr old pasos I would consider green. I know there probably are some, but properly trained at an appropriate age, most 4 and 5 yr olds are safe willing horses. Kim's stallion is 5 yrs old, has already been bred and she rides him with mares on the trails. Incendio is 7 and Rio will be 7 next month. Mico is my "old man" at 11. I've had Rio since he was 3. Brenda and Nola properly train!

I am NOT saying you should run out and buy a young horse. I AM saying that if you find a young horse you really like, dont' check him/her off your list just cause of his/her age.

I get it - ya'll are using me to get a horse shopping fix. ^.~

You're right - and that's probably something I would do. What about horses that are much older, like Lise's Montie? She's 19 - but she's got tons of life. Should I be super cautious about her?

I just got a new iPod (my mother didn't want hers anymore, and mine was mutilated by my riding instructor's new puppy when he jumped on me and ruined the LCD screen!) and am currently loading all my music onto the new one. Do you know how frustrating it is when you are super OCD about having the correct names on your songs, and half of them are named wrong by people on the net? GAH!

...Okay, I think I REALLY need a life now.

OH!!!! You NEED to get the Paso Fino Song!
I forget, who sings it? I have it here somewhere! Great song!

With older horses you need to be aware of normal soundness issues all older horses have (and us old folks too, oooo my aching back!) , but you also need to make sure somebody hasn't taught it a bunch of bad things. It is hard to "unteach" But I wouldn't worry about that Lise's horse.

xpasocortox
06-28-2007, 08:40 PM
I can sympathize with that, having my own back issues - at sixteen, too! Yay for the creation of gaited horses!! She's sound as anything (so far), and seems extremely healthy. Montie doesn't even look 19, except for some graying in her face.

There's a Paso Fino Song?! Ooooh, I might just have to go and harass Limewire to see if they have it...teehee!

Some nice storms are headed my (our?) way. Looks like it's going to be fun!!

Hey! Someone else from MA! Sweet deal!!

We just lost power and got it back - gave me some time to stop obsessing over my e-mail/APF and clean my less than pristine room ^.~ I have the apartment above the garage (haha, my mom spoils the heck out of me!) and I just got a new bed, so I decided cleaning my room and rearranging the furniture would be a good idea during the power outage. It's just too bad the storms didn't cool off the temperature - it's SO gross here!!

CarolU - I KNEW IT! Gosh, and here I was, thinking you guys were just SO sweet and helpful...juuust kidding ^.~!!

Stinky feet? I can always bring my obnoxious-smelling perfume with me when we ride. That way, we'll all be sneezing and won't worry about Abbie's feet! :D!!

Anyway. I got an e-mail from Nola, and she told me a little more about Desi. I also asked about her gaits and such, seeing as I forgot to ask in the first e-mail.

I've been known to miss whole states before. Bypassed RI once and ended up on the cape....OOOOOO, RI was to my RIGHT! I somehow over shot New Hampshire once and then there was that day I just couldn't find Indiana.

Anyway, as long as Kim is driving we won't need to worry about it. I think we can find NY or were we going to RI, I forget. Just watch out for Red Lights.

I'll put you up on about 10-12 different Paso's ( or more- we've about 20+ to choose from)so you can get the feel of what type is right for you, and we can go from there? We have a lot of different types ( not all of them are for sale- but we can find out just what kind of horse is right for you) and that may be a good way to find out what you need. Now- keep in mind it is hay season here- I might put you to work  but you will get to ride a lot of Paso's!

frankly, the thought crosses my mind, that if your parents are willing to financially support the purchase of an expensive horse, they would be willing to support the search for a safe horse.

xpasocortox
06-29-2007, 03:55 PM
My mom and stepfather are willing to a point, and I whined and cried enough I'm sure I could make them, but...this is my search, and I want to do it myself, even if it means earning the money. Maybe that's prideful and silly of me, but this is my FIRST HORSE! I'm excited beyond belief! Plus, my mother doesn't have all the money in the world to spend, especially on a horse. She just got a new job, and that stuff, so I imagine I can spend a little more than originally planned on the horse itself and it's upkeep and such...but the search is mine and mine alone, because neither my mother or my stepfather (my dad wouldn't have either - he didn't like horses much, and he passed away when I was ten) are really into the whole searching part...they think I should just get the first horse I see and be happy with it.

I think they;re going to be really surprised when I ask them about going to PA, and maybe even FL (on my own money). I'm not quite sure they know just how serious I am about this whole thing. I smell a long talk tonight...

Gah. Bugger. I need my license!

Okay, more news. I've canceled with Lise - long story short, I love both Montie and Maya, but I know neither horse is right for me, and I'm not willing to waste anyone's time. I feel that's wrong and going would have done just that. I don't want to make enemies in the PF world JUST yet! Haha. I would love to just ride, but Lise is an hour and a half away in CT, and my parents would NOT have gone for that x.-

Also, I've been communicating back and forth with a lady in FL, Michele, who our own Ginamaria has bought three Pasos from. She all but SAT on me to get me to e-mail Michele, and I'm SO glad that I did! This lady...her e-mails seriously BOUNCE she's so vivacious and vibrant! And that's just over e-mail! If things don't pan out in PA, or even if they do, I might just take a trip down to FL to see Michele and ride her kids. She has about 25-30 Pasos (!!!!) and I would kill to just ride with her!

Anyway. That is the Paso searching news. I am off to get dressed and go take a trip to Wal-Mart for some rechargeable batteries for my camera!

-giggles- Ya'll are nuts, but in a perfectly sane way! ^.~

Anyway, horse news. I now have a prospect in New Jersey (GUH!). Gina is selling her mare, Isabel (whom she got from Michele), an 8 year old gray mare. She's adorable - I have a handful of videos from her. From a zillion miles away and said handful of videos, I'm feeling some weird connection...hmm...I think a trip to Jersey is in order, as well.

Gah! Bugger being in a state with no good Pasos!

Going to go and lie down again. Headache from the devil, prolly from nerves. Have a less than fun day all set up for me tomorrow.

Yuck.

My, my, my...now, Helen, you have me wondering...just what salsa list do you have ME on???? :confused

Well, the same list Cousin Barbwire is on, of course. 8-)

Cousin Carol, you're on the Full Enchilada Salsa List. :crazy bannana

As per, the special request of Cousin Pinto Babe and Cousin Terri.

They told me, that you wanted to see everything Cousin Barbwire would want to see.

Gee, now you ask?

You miss understood dear Cousin, we said we wanted her to see everything Cousin Barbwire would approve of. You know how particular Cousin Barb is in her choice of high brow humor. We want only the BEST for Cousin Carol. :confused Or wait a minute, do I have Cousin Barb confused with someone else?

now Amanda, New Jersey isn't that terribly far. The train will take you right there! How do you parents feel about you traveling that far? will they go with you? And there are some VERY nice Pasos in this state. It just so happens Kim, Erin, Abbey and myself own them.

Unfortunately, the pasos in MA are so nice, that none of them are for sale!

Just kidding. ^.~

Nah, NJ isn't that far, but my mom...I dunno, we'll see. I've still gotta talk to her about everything else - there's been some explosions around here lately that has put horse buying in the back of my mind.

No kidding o.O I go away for one night and ya'll have gone and done a thread hijack on me!

Now. To bring it back to a subject I understand...haha!

GUESS WHO'S PROBABLY GOING TO NJ?! OMG ME!!!! Haha!

I was at my riding instructor's for a BBQ yesterday, and I jokingly asked if she wanted to come see a Paso in NJ with me, and she was like 'roadtrip? Sure!' And I was all like O_O WHOA. Not to mention, I've gotten offers from other people to go as well (including someone from this board!! Whoa!) so if Kim (as in my instructor, not our Kim) doesn't pan out, I can give the puppy eyes to the other people who have offered!

If NJ doesn't work out, I'll see about PA and FL. I'd like to go anyway, even if I have a horse, because it'd be fun and there would be lotsa Paso people to torment with questions and Pasos to actually RIDE (wheee!).

So. That is my news. BBQ was tough - going back to the barn after being away for awhile kills me. I went to see all the horses (all of which I've ridden at least once, except for my instructor's old Appy and the two year old Appy filly) and was just like...*boom*, basically. Hello, hysterical crying x.-- Big surprise, lol. Anyway.

So. I am going to see Isabel, who is a eight year old gray mare. She's positively GORGEOUS and just watching her videos I feel some weird connection. I'm not really going to count my chickens before they hatch, but generally, when I get a feeling, I follow said feeling and it turns out the way I think it will. Haha. I'm psychic! (And all of your are saying 'Um, no, you're bloody psycho...)

Fwee. That is all for the update. Must go and reply to the zillion and a half e-mails I have!

LOL. Looking like I'm going to have to take those offers - riding instructor decided ten hours in her less-than-healthy truck was probably a bad idea (can't say I blame her - she and her husband are running on one truck right now because HIS died and her's is running on it's last thread!)

So. Back to the drawing board. Sigh.
