Some friends came to camp and ride this weekend, and Kim brought her new mare. I fell in love. She is 5 yrs old and look at that mane. The bay in one of the photos is her momma.

Oh, yes, she is a Paso. I have to find out her Reg. name and bloodline. I find that I don't even look at a horse if it isn't a Paso. What a snob I have become!

Very pretty pinto. I'm not a fan of pintos, but I do like the ones that are minimally marked!!

That mare is exactly how I like pintos! Lots of CHROME...but little body marking...perfect for us minimal toby lovers! AND dark bay to boot! Even better! Reminds me of my Rita filly!

Does that mare have Precipitado bloodlines by chance?

Wow..that is so striking to have the white mane against the brown neck. Beautiful!

This is the kind of pinto I could own, minimal white, striking colors. I like it when the forelock is half white and half black too.

The mare is from Louisiana. I asked Kim about her bloodlines and the woman that had raised her passed away. Her kids knew nothing about the horses, but as Kim had kinda taken care of the woman and her horses for the last couple of years she knew a little about them. The dams call name is Elle and she has been shown, the Sire they called Peanut. She knows the woman had a folder with all the paper work and Reg. but it is not to be found. Kim knows who's name was on the Reg. papers but that is all. The stud was sold a few years ago, and whereabouts unknown. If we contact the Association, do you think they can tell us what horses were Reg. in her name? Kim said the Sire had the hair gene and was really a beauty. She doesn't know the full names of either parent or the filly.

That would be the first step, contact the PFHA and tell them her name. They can tell you the horse(s) that were registered to her. Such a nice mare hope that she got her registered.

She's lovely, with or without color. You folks that have those pinto's with too much color just send them my way. The more flash the better, provided of course that pretty hide is streached over a pretty horse.

She is PRETTY! I hope she regains her rightful heritage.

Most of the pintos around here are related. That is one nice mare. I hope she can find out more information about the registration. Be a shame if she weren't.

Is this Volante. Man he is looking good. Do you have any foals sired by him yet? Volante is as healthy as mine usually are. This year with the hay shortage mine are not quite that large. We have finally got a new hay supplier that I think will be able to take me into the winter months. We are now getting rain everyday so maybe our drought situation will soon be over.

I just looked up his pedigree in PasoRegistry.
When I say that so many of the pintos down here are related, I mean it!
Your boy is a great grandson of my Pepe U S/R.
He is also a grandson of Bandolero Royal.
His great grandmother on his dams side, La Chismosa Z, was just the cutest, sweetest little strawberry roan. Chizzy had a real cute face and great big eyes. Nice gaited, too. She was only about 13 hands tall and very delicate.
Thought you may like to know! :D

It is getting harder and harder to find pintos that are not linebred.. The original pinto seed stock was very minimal and then with the prejudices of breeding color, a number of lines were not used much at all. Now that the pintos are popular again I hope that breeders will be developing breeding stock that is not highly linebred as well as preserving some of the rare lines. This doesnt just mean crossing to solid colored more modern lines but also working on establishing outcrosses that still maintain the lines that were almost lost.

Hopefully this mare will be reunited with her papers. She is very nice.

Caliber...yours looks like he has a sideview of a face in his black body area??!!! Had you seen that before...kida a hunchback character. He's very handsome and "healthy"!

If you know the deceased lady's name, someone can check out the horses listed as owned by her on the PFHA Stud Book CD.
