Gosh....you really DO read my mind...!! I was just going to post that...eerie, huh????
Wonder what exactly makes the cat respond to the dying patients?

I don't find it strange - when Venus was ill and looked fine, the other horses didn't argue with her - they stood guard over her !
When my one cat was on her last legs - she let our other one curl up beside her - and believe me - that was totally out of the ordinary!
I have no doubt it may be tiggered by smells we can't register - Most humans during certain illnesses they are dying of, put off a keytone smell when the kidneys are failing .

I am sure any of our Dr,nurse or hospice members can tell you about that .
Eons ago twhen I was a cosmetologist( beautician) - we could tell if a person had cancer buy the smell of their hair when it was wet .

I saw that too...gives a new meaning to the term "cat scan" and final last words of "get that damn cat outta my room!"

Penny, you are right. They are training dogs now to sniff out cancer. There is a smell apparently.
I've been around a few animals who were dying and started to smell like they were already dead. I wonder if it is a similar thing.
But, it makes you wonder why the cat is attracted by it.
