They are getting ready to do the wagon trains here. Every year, several different ones leave different locations and all meet in Jackson, MS for the Dixie National Rodeo.
I rode the one out of Gulfport, MS twice. It takes 2 weeks to get there, and will seriously kick butt if you aren't conditioned for it! :shock: Which I wasn't! I was praying for snipers about the 3rd day. I don't think Gulfport has one any more.

The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo has trailrides every year. They are just about to start. Most of them last a week but one coming in from South Texas lasts over two weeks. There are covered wagons and outriders w/ each trail ride. I used to ride with the Sam Houston Trail Riders. It's great. You start out in the country and ride to Memorial Park in Houston (great fun during rush hour!!) and then on Saturday all the trail rides are in the HLSR parade through downtown Houston.
