If you are in a target zone do as much for yourselves and your animals as possible. Always remember DO NOT forget yourself because if you are injured or dead YOU cannot help your animals.

If you are outside a target zone, I ask that you make contact with at least one or two that you know in the target areas and make a special point of staying in touch with them.

I am also keeping a running graph on our membership as best i can with your help.

As it happened with Linda York during Katrina I am so grateful she and I had been talking a lot druing that time so that when it came time I knew it was not like her not to respond and I had a feel for how things were in that are and what her needs were.

Just daily chatting and please share your contact info. I am also asking please for you all to pm me your updated contact info for my book not to be given out to anyone without your permission of course. In times like these we have to trust someone with our information (even though we are warned never to give it out) so why not trust someone.

What I need is as follows

Name,
How many in house, (names if possible)
physical (and mailing) address,
(after Katrina, many times we had to use the address to find folks with a GPS since the signs were down)
phone numbers (home and cell)
Also please if you can let me know how many animals you have and what kind.
I am compiling a notebook with this info so that if anyone is in need I can pass along what is needed

If you live outside a target area I still would appreciate your info as well since you could get any number of things. but you can add how many, if any, animals you can take in just in case.

And last but not least if you want to call me NO MATTER what time of the day or night PM me and I will give you all my info.

Forget that! My info is as follows Leila Lindsey home 386-454-2872 cell 352-316-5854 Call me anytime DAY OR NIGHT. DO NOT worry if I am sleeping or not. PERIOD. Bottom line is I can always go back to sleep. Babies and Hurricanes do not wait till it is daylight so if you need me CALL ME!!![/b]

Having been hit pretty hard before, I'm only too happy to share my info Leila - though you already know most of it!

I'm in NW Florida and in the event someone elsewhere needs help, I can put up animals and people. If there's a need, we'll fit you in or find you a place! I'm located approximately 3 hours from New Orleans and 7 hours from Orlando/Tampa. People, horses, dogs, etc. are welcome.

Now then, I also live in Hurricane Alley and have been hit numerous times. For your records Leila: 4 human residents, 11-13 horses, 2 goats, 3 dogs, 5 cats.

We don't evacuate except in the most severe storms. During a bad one, we're typically outside working on repairs even as the damage is being done. We've saved a ton of stuff from damage by doing this. But there are frequently needs after a storm, especially gas for generators.

For those less prepared, please pay attention to Leila. My farm is extremely well-prepared for weather issues. Most people really are not. Please take steps now to avoid as many future issues as possible.

OK Leila here's some info you already know but can pass it on
Name: Emerald Acres Paso Fino Ranch- Bob & Grace Evans
Location 6.2 miles North of Greenville, Florida off Reapers Curch Road
Address: 539 Dennet Pond Way Greenville, Fl 32331
Mailing Address: PO Drawer 70 Greenville, Florida 32331
Phones House 850-948-6496
Barn 850-948-6498

There are directions photos taken by Leila and shows you how to get here on our website www.EAPFR.com

In a hurricane we do not normally evacuate because we are pretty much protected with about 2000 acres of woods surrounding us.

Have space for about 10 extra horses
Plenty of parking space for travel trailers or horse trailers.
Generators to run well and house and barn.
Always have plenty of drinking water, food and medical supplies stocked up for humans and horses and pets.
Keep hay shed and bedding sheds full just about all the time
Water tanks in every pasture
There are 4 horse farms on our road with plenty of pasture space and we can make contact with them for you if we run out of space.
Hope this helps

Bob & Grace :D :D

Um....I would pass this information to Leila via pm or email. We are not the only ones that frequent this board. Thanks.
If you are listing yourself as a safe haven then your names and general location would be sufficient. I don't recommend listing personal information right here.
