Well now I can get down to posting this. Lots of things have been going on.

I have been closely caring for my teacup poodle who is recovering from a vestibular problem. I won't go into it right now.

Of course the normal babysitting grand kids.

Been tracking my lost ladys torso lost enroute to me from west virginia and we finally found her in missouri. lets face it how many times do you open a shipping box and find a torso. not your normal item to ship. :) she is a vintage dressmakers form.

Oh yes more babysitting

and Then my BIG mistake I became a shoplifting thief

Monday afternoon Ellis, our youngest daughter Brittany and yes still babysitting the kids and myself went to buy feed for the outdoor kids in Cheifland which happens to be 45 miles from our home but we like it because we can also shop at walmart there too.

Got feed, went to Super Wal Mart and shopped more. Bought material for more costumes I am going to make. Came home and gave kids to thier Mom. Hurray!!!!!

Before leaving that morning I had recieved a call from UPS employee telling me my lady was in Missouri and they had sent her on her way home to me. I decided while sitting at my computer and chatting with a group from APF to check my tracking number and see where she was in her trip home. For the life of me I could not find the tracking number.

I gave up looking and decided to take a look at my material and what do i see but a pre paid phone card which I had intended to buy but had not. I thought I had forgotten to pick it up. Not!! it was apparently hung up on the cloth.

It is now 1:30 am

I felt so bad!!! I went to the bedroom woke Ellis and asked him how much he loved me. He said lots and asked me why was I waking him to ask that question. I told him I was a thief and could not go to bed feeling that way and asked him to ride with me back to Chiefland.

He was so sweet!! He got up and dressed and we went back to Chiefland and i spoke to a lady there askign for a manager. I explained what had happened and she started laughing telign me it was ok because the card would not have worked unless activated by scanning it at the register. That did not matter. I just wanted it paid for.

I guess I could have gone in bought something and then paid it at the register but I just could not do it. Headed home.

It is now 3:30 am

Ellis went back to bed after a peck on my cheek. I sat down to take one last look at the BB and decided to take my blood pressure. I opened the container holding my wrist cuff and

THERE IS THE PAPER WITH THE TRACKING NUMBER TO MY LADY ON IT!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!! I KNOW WHO TO THANK :)

Oh, Leila, what a good soul you are! Did you really go back to the store at 1:30 in the morning??? or did I misread the cronology? I don't think God would have minded if you waited till morning.
Something like that happened to me once. only believe it or not, it was a 50 lb bad of dog food. I pealed off the little sticker they are supposed to scan, but it got mixed up in the other stuff on the check out. So I literally walked out with 50 lbs of dog food, right by the cashier without paying for it. Of course I didn't realize it until I had the kids buckled in. It was also cold and snowy that day. So I was more annoyed at the thought of going back into the store than paying the $12 for the dog food. I briefly considered mailing Walmart a check later, but knew I couldn't sleep if I didnt pay for it so we went back in. Besides I figure it is good to show your kids the importance of being honest. Kids learn best by watching what you do, not what you tell them.

I had a young girl cashier at the Burger King give me an extra $10 in change one time. I didn't notice until I had pulled away so I went back through the drive through up to the window. When I told the girl why I had come back she was in total disbelief that I had come back and was extremely greatful. She kept asking was I sure and took down my number in case her drawer did not come up short so she could return the $10 to me. I had never seen someone so happy over $10 and it was worth so much more than that $10 to me to see that girl so happy and to show to her that not everyone will drive off with the $10 that would have come out of her paycheck.

I did the same thing Cindy did recently at WalMart. I got home and found they had filled my perscription twice, and only charged me once. I called them about it.

I think people don't realize that these errors cost the people who work there money...comes right out of their checks.

Don't let this crazy woman lie to you folks. Leila and Ellis are soooo mean! Just wicked, wicked people. Awful.

She ties children up, and Ellis beats 'em. Then they take 'em down, bake 'em in a meatloaf, and serve 'em to guests!

And that's the truth! *snort*

I did something like that too. I walked out of the supermarket with a container of sour cream in my hand and didn't even realize it until I got to the truck. I went back in the store and told them what I did and paid for it.
Also did the returning money a cashier overpaid. Wonder how many people would actually DO that. Bless you honest people!!

the same thing happened to me except the Walmart employee was the one that didn't charge me for my dog food. It was a $22. bag of food. I didn't notice that I had not been charged until I got home. I phoned Walmart in Ocala and spoke with a Manager. I told him that I would come to Customer Service next time I was in and pay for it. He told me not to bother. It was their error and not to worry about it. Enjoy the dog food on them! I was also concerned that the cashier would have to pay and he said they would not even know which cash it went thru. It would only be noticed when they did an inventory.

Well, anybody who's worked retail before follows a different in-store etiquette from those who haven't. If they take something off the hanger, or it falls off, they put it back. Al the shirts Wal-Mart has from White Stag on the tables? They re-fold them after looking at them. They make sure their tampons and TP go in the actual trash can, not in the general vicinity. If something's broken, they bring it to the manager's attention, and if it's their fault, they pay for it.

Small things like this help them to keep a store clean- it's just self-policing that all people should do, instead of strewing junk all around the store in your wake. If you aren't going to buy something, don't just park the cart and walk out- put the stuff back where it belongs. If the store wants something re-arranged, they'll do it.

At restaurants, try to order what's on the menu unless you have specific needs that the menu isn't meeting. Don't be picky, and don't get snotty to the waitress- she just takes the order and brings it out. If you ordered something with no pickles and it comes with pickles- surprise- you can actually pick them off by yourself- imagine that!

Although, I personally order my sandwich with no mayonnaise because I hate it- and mayo ISN'T something you can just pick off. It's... residual.

If you have a large party of people coming with you, call ahead so that they can be ready, stuff like that.

I sure miss writing my "How to Live Well with Others" column sometimes! :(

I believe with those pre-paid phone calls, they don't work unless you pay for them anyway. they have to be "activated" by running through the cash register

I CONFESS

I'm a kleptomaniac. I need help. I take magazines from doctors' offices. I've really tried to stop but was caught doing it again on Tuesday and had to get back out of the car and take them back into the office. All the people working in there stared at me. HELP!!!!

The dumbest thing I ever did along this line is take a platic tea glass from a restaurant. I didn't even notice it until later and couldn't even remember where I got it But I know it came from a restaurant because we don't own a red plastic glass and I had one half full of tea in my car?????

ROFL - I had a series of foot surgeries and one time - hubby had to leave on a trip . I had to drive to DR ,to have stitches out and stopped at a store about 10 miles away on the way home.
When I was unpacking the groceries - noticed I had a bag with things that seemed to say - PARTY! I hadn't bought those - so called store and explained - someone was probably very upset ,due to missing groceries - but it really was hard that day to get around!
Manager drove out to my place ,got the groceries and gave me a 1/2 gallon of ice cream for being honest - and the lady called me to thank me !
It costs everyone ,including us when things are shoplifted - or even accidently taken home!

Just the other day I got my little sticker for my renewed truck tag. I had done the process online, so it was mailed to me. Opened it up, and inside was the receipt and sticker for another person in a different city attached to my receipt and sticker.
Being the nice, honest person I am, I put the receipt and sticker in an envelope and mailed it to its rightful owner.
A couple days ago, I got a call from that man thanking me for mailing him the sticker! :D Sometimes it pays to be nice. ;-)
