Too bad about that smudge, but you all are certainly a spiffy looking group. Love the matching outfits, and the horses look wonderful.

Good looking group! Nice job. Did the boardwalk noise spook any of the horses? I haven't been there in years but I remember it being kind of hollow sounding in places. It looks better in your pictures than I remember, though.

Well the Boardwalk did frighten some of the horses at first..between the sound and the fact that the boards are laid out in a pattern but it didnt take long for them to adjust. And it does sound hollow.I know Abejita would get a little 'up' when she heard someone gaiting up behind her, but nothing bad..It was pretty slippery though.Almost more for the barefoot horses than the shod but even they were slipping some..and yes Parking was nightmare-ish LOL but it could have been worse..At the end of the Parade I think the horses knew they were going home..When we came off the Boardwalk, we had to snake through lots of traffic and people on one of the side streets...up on the sidewalk..down between cars...then cross an intersection and then into the field where the trailers were parked..Well I think the horses worked HARDER just heading back and once they hit that grass patch they wanted to GALLOP back to the trailers LOL... ALL OF THEM!!!
Anyone that wants to join the Mason Dixon Parade group or just be kept informed of possible parades , email Diane Dutt at dld5 AT comcast DOT net and you will get on her parade mailing list. The 'uniform 'is pretty cheap- The vest was like 23 bucks and a white shirt, black pants and boots and white show hat..in the winter ,a red coat or red sweatshirt takes the place of the vest.
We usually have Banner Bearers too, but couldnt get any for this parade

Yes it was hot..but it wasnt unbearable..That made me remember something...One little boy probably about 10 or so was walking around us taking video as we were standing there during a lull..He comes up to me and very politely says.."uhh Excuse me..I think your horse just peed.." It took me a sec then I realized how many of the horses were dripping sweat off their belly..and to someone who doesnt know horses that might look like they had peed..!!!I explained it to him and he looked a little relieved hehehe

 Yeah, in the NY parade, ppl would reach out to pet Mina who was dripping sweat also, and they would be shocked that she was wet. Some were like EEWWWWEEE! GROSS. And some just didn't care at all, happy to be petting the horse.
I once had a little boy out at the ranch to visit the cows. He'd never seen them before. So when he touched one, he exclaimed..."It has HAIR!". I thought they would feel like the leather couch.
