stallion or one that throws very high percentage of black offspring?

Must offer
accurate gait
good size (over 14hh)
good temperament

Looking to breed a mare that is very well gaited, short coupled, low action - lines of Monarca de Besilu, Latigo, Anfitrion and PR lines..

My friend has a black stallion here in Monroe, GA. Espartano de Prometido.

I have watched him grow from a baby, seen him move and he looks fluid and strong. He is sweet tempered and is of good size. I don't know his correct size, but he looks big, to me. I also don't know if he is EE or Ee.

Edited to add:
Sire: Premetido de Selecta[gray] (Promesa del Juncal[gray] x Capuchino[chestnut])
Dam: La Floridia de Sol Reye[gray] (Indianade J Dos C[bay] x Guarani[gray])
Espartano did not receive a gray gene from either parent. He will remain black and will not sire gray, unless the mare gives a gray gene. The best I can tell from looking at his pedigree, is he is most likely Eeaa, though of course there is a possibility he is EEaa. Can't know without testing.

Is Jaranero over 14 hands?

We have not had Mayito tested but he has thrown foals that have been tested and have been homozygous black. One of his son's was purchased for futurre breeding sire at a pinto farm in Georgia that I did have tested. We should have Mayito tested, I guess. I do not think we have a lot in the breed, but they do exist.

I am finding the homozygous black to be quite elusive... we have a colt that is hz black but also hz tobiano - I am not looking to put the tobiano pattern on this mare as she is a full body pattern sabino.

The colt that was purchased and will be standing in Georgia is a solid black and did not get the pinto gene. Her black & white stallion just does not produce black that often so she wanted to bred her pinto mares to the solid stallion. She liked his color and his blood lines. You are correct that their is not that many in the paso breed.

I know of this college fellow who has an Amadeus grandson who is solid black, 14.2 hands, very nice gait- currently pleasure but if trained could go performance, handsome and elegant, and in Oklahoma. I bred two of my mares to him and they are due in November. I can't wait. My solid black mare was covered by him. I had them both DNA tested and they tested homozygous for black with no agouti, so I will have a 100% solid black foal. He does live cover only. I can give out his email address if interested, he doesn't mind. The horses name is KA-WA Capadeus de Quarto PFHA #33308. This picture is the most recent, he is sunburnt from 24/7 pasture turnout.

Besides my black homozygous mare I have a perlino colt I have on the market that a fellow paid to have DNA color tested- he turned out to be homozygous for of course the creme, but for black and agouti too, so I guess that means he'll throw buckskin all the time? This guy said his being homozygous for black (and agouti) was very rare. I guess this is true then? Homozygous blacks are very rare? Interesting!

I own Capi's sire and trained both of his parents. His sire is a powerful performance gelding and his dam was shown A/O Pleasure. Both were black. Capi's pedigree http://pasoregistry.com/db/Tree.asp?ID=101174

Wasn't he for sale a while back Patti? Seems a young guy had him at the time.

Capadeus is owned by a young, very nice college fellow named Tobin out of Ft. Gibson , Oklahoma, and he is still for sale, he told me just recently for $7000. I don't know if reporting this info is wrong for this thread, sorry if it is, but that is what he told me. I've ridden this stallion, and actually he let us board him here for the two weeks I needed to cover my mares. This stallion was a good ride, a gentleman to handle and to breed. If I had that amount, I'd take him myself. I saw sire Othello for sale, why was he gelded? Sounds like an awesome horse by the ad's description! Nellie
Here is another photo of Cap. The owner is on him, and is TALL, well over 6 feet, so don't let his size make you think Cap is small! Nellie

Love this horse! If I had a place to keep him...I'd sell my own blood to get him.

P.S. Sorry I didn't see your post about him earlier, nellie..I have no excuse..it's not like the photo isn't visible enough. Just had a blonde moment.

;-) Hey, no problem. No space? That's a pain, I'd be buying panels to put him in..... IF, that is, I could afford him. Last I heard, Tobin was highly motivated to move him- maybe you should hook up with him? To me he was near to perfect, so shiny black when I first met him, so elegant with his arched neck and sleek form. SIGH.........
