Look at this...Vence mounted 2 horses...people RAN us over..look at this mess....LONG but worth it...see if you can spot me..

They ran through the woods..Yelling...like indians..then they missed the trails and 3 times with over 300 people they would yell..turn around..then the leaders were behind and would RUN ahead passing you...THen we got jammed on a road waiting and they would not let us go..I saved several feet between me and the peeps in front of me...then they all ran up and crowded me and jammed up right up and BACKED into Vence..he mounted 2 people..it was awful I had to go up a 10 foot imbankment to get away from them...did you see this pic??

And that is the reason I HATE big organized (using that term very loosely) rides.

I hear last year a horse died on the trail and they left it there....

they turned around MANY times...they passed me many times and hit my knee then they stopped and gave you NO space..no one every said..hole..branch..tree...we hit a turn and had a huge log we had to jump and could hardly see it for the dust..I am not kidding they whooped and hollared...run run then dead stop..then turn around...they ran through mud 12" deep..it was awful...we (our group) agreed to turn around and not do it anymore...

Did I tell you about 10 people fell off in the parking area BEFORE the ride? One was ridng bareback and got bucked over the head into a truck grill....Many just got thrown...That should have been my sign...lots of NON rider riders...for sure

I'd get nervous riding with more than a half dozen people. :shock:
Most of my riding has been done alone or with 1-2 other horses. Largest ride I went on was a poker ride near my house that had about 50 horses/riders. There were no accidents on that ride. I rode my Appy gelding bareback. I attended with a friend and everyone there either knew several peeps or came with their own friend(s). There was plenty of space between the friend-groups and it was a quiet, leisurely ride along the river.

THAT...looked like a huge mess and I'm surprised no one was hurt worse. Sounds like a bunch of yahoos.

I bet Teddy Roosevelt is rolling over in his grave..certainly NOT what the original meaning of "Rough Rider' stood for..total idiots..Why the turning around stuff? were they lost or is it some game they play?
Sorry you had to go through that ..glad you survived

They did not know the trails...these pics were of a "turn around" we went what would be away from the camera...around that field and to the left we were the LAST riders or dern close to the last...THEN they took a wrong trail and yelled turn around...we had not gotten to the field or the left turn yet so we pulled aside...these were the people that were in FRONT of us..they turned around and here they came...problem was all the front riders when turned around wante back in the FRONT...horrible I tell you

OMG! I've never seen anything like it. It's just a "big free for all, go wild with horses" bash.

I feel so bad for these horses. This is animal abuse.

Yikes, that looks like a ride from "H"! I'm glad you and Vence didn't get seriously hurt! What about the bay horse rearing in the first album, it looked like it was before the ride started....was that a paso?

Have no idea...he did it the whole time before the ride...for over an hour...

I will say Vence was good before the ride and the first 1/2 hour of the ride but when we got jammed that was it..and run into etc..it was horrible..I have never seen so many $1 curbs in my life..bad fitting bridles/saddles and fitted completly wrong..I saw a bit upside down...it was a trip

We've done some pretty big rides but they were well marked and the trail rides had a wrangler in front. We were thinking about doing the Myrtle Beach South Carolina beach ride with 1000 horses but I don't know now if it's a good idea at all. Yours was just plain dangerous! :roll: :roll:

Big rides like that sure can be trouble.... my husband won't even go on big rides anymore. He is tired of all the "interruptions" that seem to happen on big rides...

But hey...you gotta do one at least ONCE !!!

I bet I do it again...with a horse I can HANG with them on ...one that you can bump into back into and turn around and run 300 horses on...Vence just lost his ever loving mind.. :lol:
