My new plan...trail riding not breeding
Vence will be gelded (I would like to freeze some semen if anyone can point me in that direction)
Many of my horses will be sold. I will keep 4 riders and Roger two babies till broke then if they are good I will sell off 2 of the first 4 riders and replace with Teki and Diosa...
Will do an official APF ad when ready...

That doesn't sound like an attack plan Shelley. It sounds like a plan to change direction and slow down.
It's a lot of work keeping a breeding stallion. He's a beautiful horse, but I don't blame you.
Good luck!!!

If someone wanted him I would sell him...but I like his RIDE...so I plan to have him as my trail horse along with Jose for now...Dickk wants Condesa..Bubba will have to stay for now..he proved himself on that ride of 400 people when Janet jumped off to get me and Bubba waited for her with 250 people passing him..he acted like it was any old ride...
Jr...Misty and foals will go for now..I like Jose he is a good ride and pretty hard to find that flash...

Appy...your plan sounds a LOT like my plan!
Can I ask what prompted it?
Are horse sales poor in your area?
Is feed high priced like here?
I won't be gelding my bay stud.....
I may be gelding my palomino....
Broodmares? Already sold them....
Riding....one of the few things I LIKE doing !!! Especially with friends like you do....

Can I ask what prompted it? Can buy a 2 yr old cheaper then raise one and you cant get what you have into a baby even without paying a stud fee..
Are horse sales poor in your area? POOR BABY SALES can sell riders
Is feed high priced like here? $11.50 bag for my stuff $6 for cheap..Hay still $3.25 but if I have to get other then MY farmer it will be over $5
I won't be gelding my bay stud.....Might hold off a tad on this one at least till winter for flys if I do it

Riding....one of the few things I LIKE doing !!! Especially with friends like you do Yep like my riding wish you were around here we would have fun.....

I have to agree...2 yr old can be had cheaper than raising a foal to two years. NOW...just imagine having to pay a $1000 or up stud fee and you STILL cannot get pure COST out of the foals....terrible!
Poor baby sales....yep, that is true for me also. I can sell riders (but...have to discount them to nearly nuthin' to GET them sold) ...nobody wants babies.... exactly the opposite of what was true for me in AQHA & APHA horses where everybody wants a weanling or yearling....to raise and make the way they want it... didn't find that to be true in Paso Finos.
Too many horses and not enough buyers! That and I've come to the conclusion that Pasos are not "sought after" here in my area...JMO

Shelley, have you been thinking about this a long time or did that crazy ride kinda put you "over the edge". I mean, I understand the market realities of not wanting to be into breeding. But is it really necessary to geld poor Vence? Sorry, just being sentimental.

Good for you Shelley - you will have so much more fun with a SUPERIOR gelding under you :D And it's so hard to be a small breeder and turn any real profit. Lots of sweat and time go into taking care of horses properly that sometimes we don't get the rewards of riding them as much as we want. Now go and enjoy your horses.

But is it really necessary to geld poor Vence?
Is it really necessary for Shelley to have to ride a horse on a nice leisurely trail ride with a raging hard on?
