I go into the hospital for Knee Replacement surgery tomorrow...so keep me in your thoughts...the hardest part is being away from my horses and friends for about 2 weeks or so (with in-patient rehab)...(poor Nola)..
Now, don't any of you do anything interesting until I get back...I don't want to miss anything...Maribelle

Good luck!!
My mom had both of her knees done at the same time ~6 years ago. It was amazing the difference in her! She could barely walk before she had it done.
Just make sure you keep up with the exercises they give you after the surgery, no matter how painful it can get!
You don't know how many patients my mom sees that they have to put under in order to work out their knees because they didn't follow their doc's directions after surgery.

Good luck with your knee operations Maribelle and Erin Jr.
Maribelle, I hope you are still going to Nats. I'd hate to miss the chance to see your smiling face. ;-)

I had mine done about 2 years ago. I had a unicompartmental replacement done in both knees. It is where the inside half of the bearing surface of the knee is replaced instead of the whole knee. It was great as they spaced the surgeries about 6-8 weeks apart and I couldn't work for about 8 weeks afterwards. The upside was I was riding 2 weeks after the first surgery and 3 weeks after the second, it was great. The downside was the physical therapy afterwards. The therapist would torment me during the session, then I would tell him I was going riding and he would scream and have a fit. I asked the surgeon in advance when I could ride and he said whenever I was able, just don't do anything stupid. It used to hurt my knees when I rode before the surgery. Now I am most comfortable riding.
Good luck, you are going to love your new knees! It gets better every year.

All done...I can't believe how easy it was...I really feel fine...I was in the hospital for 3 1/2 days then to Kessler Rehab for 6 days...Yes, I'm doing my exercises...The therapist gave me 6 exercises to do twice a day until I can get appointments with my outpatient therapy...I haven't been to the barn yet...I'll wait until I get the staples out (probably Friday)...
Erin, How is your daughter doing...wow, there are sure a lot of people that have knee replacement surgery.
My only problem seems to be that my vision is blurry...probably from one of the meds I am taking. I'll find out tomorrow.....
Thanks for all your good wishes and prayers...Maribelle

Glad to read you are doing well Maribelle. If Terry is a good example, you'll just get better and better from now on.
