This is where we went. This picture was actually taken 2 weeks ago on another ride. But Rose and I went up the bottom through the trees and ate lunch at the top of the pass in the middle of this picture.

This is the view on the other side of the pass. This would take you down into Stockton. This photo was taken in the bottom of the valley in the first photo.

I rode Rosie on this trip: (0nly her 4th 'real' trail ride and she led all the way up with only two BOOGY MEN PAOS EATING TREE STUMPS

And I guess you could call this a tale of two tails. Rose took this picture

It was a great ride and a great day. Rose and hubby are now headed down through Southern Utah and we'll see where all they end up.
Rose is a gracious guest. We had a great time.

Thanks so much for sharing Carol. Great pictures. We're so envious. It's too hot to do anything but sit in an air conditioned house and sip on sweet ice tea!!

Thanks, I am REALLY proud of Rosie. She's had the start every horse should have, and it's really paid off in spades. She is sensible and her confidence grows with each ride.
Now Carol, I've ridden with Shelley and I have to say that her rides and my summer rides are quite different. She is pretty much balls-to-the-wall, with a fast pace for a few hours. You cover a lot of ground and have a BALL!!!! :D I ride like that in the spring/fall when we ride on the flats and some rolling hills. But it is too hot to ride there in the summer. In the summer we change elevation and ride where it is cool. When you ride up/down a few thousand feet on one ride, you can't corto much! But, they are hard rides. The horses do a lot of climbing and on steep parts of the trails, coming down is worse then going up. On the South Willow ride, a little boy was killed about a month ago when his horse tripped going down and they tumbled down the mountain. He was three years old. You do learn to PRAY on these rides. LOL
I have Parelli's tour stop this weekend, so the White Pine (over 4,000 elevation change in one ride) and BCH Settlement ride pictures will have to wait for next week.
Ya'll have a great weekend! I know I will.

I find that I can't breathe when you mention those elevations - I think I would be glad of a walking ride then. Fabulous country.

Yup...that's what I meant! ;-)
Rosie looks Wonderful!!! I am glad she is doing so well, but I figured she would ;-) Lightningbug comes home from Rick's next weekend, so I am already planning her first trail rides. LOL Can't wait till I can get her going. We have alot of mountains, valleys, but not that great on elevation. But enough to give them a workout on a few of the trails.
Have fun!! And keep the great pics coming.
