I think something has been discussed a while back....

But, Marci has been getting white spots over the last month or so, more noticeably in the last couple weeks- they are not solid spots, and appear all over her body.

She has had white ticking in her flanks that has gotten a little more noticeable each year, and has a grey father.....could she be turning more grey?

Oh - the spots are about dime sized - will get pics after this weekend.

No, she is not turning more gray. I think that is what they call bird catcher spots. I have had many horses with them. Sometimes they come and go. Google birdcatcher spots and you should find some info. I think I have one of those color websites in my favorites that talks about them. Let me know if you want me to see if I can find it for you.

I was thinking they might be bird POOP spots! She always had pigeon poop on her.....

Thanks Cindy - off to do a quick search!

Nope....Marci is due for worming though......

I should have added too - these are not solid spots, but more a 'pattern' of white in circles with dark hairs still in there.......will have to get pictures!

I seem to recall quite a few of the broodmares on the farm I worked at getting these spots when they were nursing foals. Do you think that it has something to do with it? Do you think it's hormonal or has to do with nutritional deficiencies?

See this thread (probably one of several) that I just found. It sounds as if it's a hormonal, pregnancy-related thing.

it may be nutritional, but with Desi being a gelding I doubt it is pregancy homone!
He is covered with white spots. They come and go. Right now, there aren't as many as there were in the spring.
