Bucky arrived Friday night. Apparently he's never been in a ramp load before so we had to move the center divider so that he could turn and go out frontwards. So we'll have to work on that one, or get a new trailer. We put him in with our gelding and they get along great. Then today we got him cleaned up, took pics, and put him in with the mare and the yearling. There were a few "discussions", but it seems everything is going to be peaceful. It's cute watching my husband learn how to be a horseman. He was trying to be too careful cleaning off his hooves with the hose and it made Bucky nervous. I showed him how to just be purposefull and matter of fact with your body language and they will accept things better. Just one lesson of many to come, but it's fun. And I got some help with the chores this morning. :D

Yes, of course, husbands who ride are to be cherished (cough, cough)...

Seriously, he looks like a great find and I hope he and your husband become quite a team. He looks very tall and quite well proportioned for his height. Do you know his bloodlines?

He is 15.2? Wow! And good looking, man oh man! Where in the world did you find that horse?
I will also second third and fourth the envy of having a husband that rides. Mine will feed when I am gone...for that at least I am thankful. But it would be nice if he shared the love. Oh, well. Maybe my NEXT husband!

Thanks for all the nice comments. He is a really sweet boy.

What worked for me to get my husband to ride is that a couple years ago we went on a family vacation to a dude ranch in Wyoming. The horse they had for Paul to ride was a perfect match for him and it gave him tons of confidence. Paul has always been a big outdoorsman and even though I'd been telling him the best way to see the wildlife and scenery is from horseback, he didn't really believe it until he did it. All the rides in Wyoming were spectacular and he developed a bond with that horse. So this year he started riding Bucky at my friends house and they really got along great. My friend bought Bucky for her father a year or so ago, but he really never rode, and she is trying to downsize on horses. So we are able to buy him on payments and I think he will have a forever home here. :D

Here is a link to his bloodlines. He is an El Pastor gr.son.

How long did it take you to find the perfect Paso for him?

Well, we weren't really looking for a paso yet. We always planned to look someday, but knew it would be hard to find a larger paso and a beginner type paso. My friend owned him, and Paul rode him a few times and it all just clicked and fell into place. :D

Here are a couple pics of father and daughter walking their two horses, Bucky and Mario from tonight.....

You're a smart lady Laura. It's called "enabling." By including them in your addiction you're guaranteed to keep enjoying your addiction. Now, you need one more for you, right?

Some very close friends of mine use to own the sire of your new horse. He was a very pretty bay and very fun to ride! Good luck with him!
