This past Saturday I attended an annual Paso Ride outside of Rochester, Mn.
I look forward to this ride each year...It is held on private land and we have access to about 500-600 acres of fantastic trails .
We arrived about 9:00 and as I was was pulling into the pasture to park, I was surprised to see Jo Ann, the lady I purchase Lady G from was there. She had been invited down by someone in the Mid America Paso Fino group to which I belong.
She commented on how much weight Lady G had put on. I don't see it as I see her everyday.
We head into the pole barn to socialize with everyone. It is a great group..Jo Ann later comments about how nice everyone is.
Did I mention, it has already started to drizzle. We socialize and socialize and socialize and it rains and it rains and it rains. As time goes on it rains harder and harder. Getting discouraged... as I look forward to this ride all year long.
About noon we decide to start the pot luck...enough food to feed an army. Everything tasted great.
Did I forget to mention the dogs? I think almost everyone brought a dog.
At least 14 dogs ( the hostess counted as best she could ) and they ALL got along.
Lunch is done and someone mentions to look outside. We see sunlight. Within 30-45 minutes the rain stops and everyone heads out to saddle up.
Cheryl is riding one of my Pasos, and Jo Ann joins us. We head out a few minutes later to catch up with a group of 4. After about 45 minutes, the three of us break off from the group... they wanted to go slower. I let Miss G loose and we were off.
Jo Ann says she has a long thread in the Paso Llano. She mentioned the next time I was at Zumbro Bottoms, I should just let her go on the old railroad bed. I will be able to see her wide range of gait in the Paso Llano.
She is glad that I got Miss G.. she likes what she sees. She said one of Miss G's down falls is when she meets other horses on the trail, she would become afraid. Jo Ann was surprised that she did not show any signs of that..
Gained a lot more information that will be useful when dealing with my new mare.
This has gotten way too long.
Guess I am a very happy camper with my new ride.
