Hmmm. I am definatly going to try that. Its easier than burrying the bird in the ground to cook.

You should try drunken chicken in trash can. :D

Before everyone says yuck! You take a NEW aluminum trash can line the lid with foil place hot coles on the ground lay the lid on top with the chicken on the foil the place the rest of the can on the lid and put hot coles on top and wait for an hour or so untill the chicken is done. Keeping the cols hot.

I don't know, I think Dutch Oven Chicken (burying the bird in the ground) is hard to beat, and sounds like a smaller hole to dig then that needed for a trash can! (try Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler...yum!!!)

They sell racks here for Beer-Can chicken that hold the can AND the chicken (not parrot) and cook upright on your grill.

I have to admit I've never had it. My husband would have a heart attack if I 'abused' perfectly good beer in such a manner.

ErinC
10-04-2007, 11:05 AM
ok Carol that is the thing I used look at the picture again, and if you notice. the beer is in his butt.

now... you must know I did not use a good beer, we had a b-day party here over the weekend and people left some, the beer I used I would NEVER drinbk! even if I was out of beer!

I can relate to hubby! ;-)

Thanks Erin. Maybe I can get a 6-pack of Bud and do knockworst with some and beer can chicken with the rest. I'll have to try it.

That fit in your oven?

ErinC
10-04-2007, 12:34 PM
yup I had to take out a rack, and put the other on the bottom.

Poor Amanda. I don't think she's ever met a real redneck.

Maybe we need to find those pictures of Lori's wedding. You know, the one in camo! ;-) :D

As we passed a house (on our way to Boise) that had every possible kind of junk stapled, strapped, nailed, or screwed to the exterior, my good girlfriend made the observation that, "America is the land of individualism. Some just express it a little differently."

Amanda, you probably wouldn't be interested in a Road Kill Cookbook, would you?

Now I'm running !!!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope it's not old roadkill. People over here will take a pheasant home if you knock it down and kill it or a deer - if you can drive after hitting one (did $6000 worth of damage to our car)!

Did anyone hear about the peacock who did $6000 worth of damage to a Peacock Blue Lexus in UK - it was being amourous and destroyed all the paintwork with it's claws...ooooooops !!!

I used to bury them in the ground all the time, it was pretty good and tender.
You dig a hole, then you heat up some rocks in a fire, then you put them in the hole & chicken next.
Simple as that. I may try the beer can one tho.

ErinC
10-06-2007, 02:03 AM
the hot rocks stay hot and cook the chix?
what do you put the chix in?
do you cover the hole?
I am soooooooo confused
I need a visual!

Yea they will stay hot. Wrap the chicken in foil, good heavey foil real good and tight. I used to put just the top back on(like sod kinda)
We used about 3 rocks to cook them.

ErinC
10-06-2007, 02:41 AM
big rocks?
and how long does it have to stay down there?
my luck a kid would fall in the hole.

Do you people not own OVENS?
Why would you go to all the trouble of digging holes and heating rocks?
And where are you heating those rocks anyway? *looking puzzled*

Its like baking it in the over just outside in the yard. Make sure when you buy the new can that you rinse it out really good before. We forgot to take a slip of paper that was stuck to the bottom of the can. LOL it just burned away but it didn't flaver the chicken any. LOL

CarlU, You don't have to dig a hole to put the can in.
