Our boarding barn put on a horse show today. Most of the kids are students of the owner's daughter so they are a "hunter/Jumper" group.
Of course the show was all jumping, except the last class was an english pleasure. I asked the owner which class I could enter Ladybug in? He said the last one. SO I was telling some of the other non=hunter people this morning who were there to watch "our" kids that they could show in the last class. But two of them have western tack. SO, a class was added, Pleasure Ride Class, for us!!! There were 9 horses in the class, the largest out of all of them, and there were 4 kids on their english mounts,a part percheron a girl was riding, 2 horses the lady uses for team penning which are quarter horses, and Ladybug, and my hubby with his Tenn. Walker. We had a great time!! Hubby and Treasure came in second and Ladybug and I came in fourth.
But I have a broken shoulder blade, healing fine, so have not ridden in a month, Ladybug and I hate the outdoor ring LOL so never practice her gait in there, but she must have remembered her short show career when she heard the loudspeaker  She walked when asked and stayed in her gait the whole time.
The judge said she watched all the horses, and did not pay attention to breed, just thought which order would I like to ride these horses all day on a trail ride? First place went to the one QH he has a lovely jog and never broke gait. Third went to the other QH. The jusge complimented my hubby on Treasure and said how smooth he looks to ride. (and he is).
She said it was a very well behaved class and they all did very well.
SO now we will practice over the winter for next spring and maybe take first over that QH ;-) :D

Terry, I was riding (imagine that) the young one Lightningbug. We were on a trail ride, my son on Ladybug, and hubby. We were walking over a rather large loose branch and Ladybug stopped so Bug did too. When she stopped, her back feet were on the branch at the same time. SO she just kicked up, like a buck, and launched me over her shoulder. I did a flip and landed on my shoulder and butt. BUT, I landed on a very large and solid tree root. Knew right there I did something to my shoulder. Did a catscan and I have a hairline fracture on my shoulder blade. No, they can't do anything for it, and my upper arm is what hurts, funny enough, but am able to do most things, just still limited motion in my arm.
But all is healing, just missing riding.
And we are not blaming the "little one", she actually was not doing anything wrong!! Just a bad placement of her feet, she walks right over cavaletti's and has always gone over stuff before, just that my son stopped at a bad moment.
But now my son is riding Lightningbug and she is doing great, so all is well
HHMMM, maybe Brady did it on purpose, just so he could ride Bug LOL LOL

Well I figured it had to be some kind of mis-hap...

Nope..I would not blame Bug either..... it was on of those "s" happens moments...
