....at our fun and futurity Paso show in Castle Rock, CO. My daughter, Melissa, and I went with three horses. It was SOOOO much fun!!! The facility was easy to get to and very comfortable. The people who organized the show (Suzie and Denise) did a fantastic job. Everything went smoothly and I heard several people, who attended a Paso show for the first time, commenting on how friendly and welcoming everyone was.
We had a very nice turn-out.....The Bella Forma clinic (held by Cindy G.) had 12 horses in it. This was the first time, we put our 3 year old gelding, Chinook, in two lines. He did well with Cindy (giving instructions while demonstrating) and Melissa.
We saw some old friends and made a few new ones.... It was a real relaxing, no-stress show. We didn't have to get dressed up (although some did), nor did our horses have to get clipped (they are getting ready for our winter here).... There was a lot of good-will, helpfulness, and laughter --- plenty of good food, good weather, good horses, good judging. There was a soccer horse clinic, too. It was amazing how a couple of horses who had never seen a big ball went from bucking and spooking to "nosing" and chasing the ball around within minutes....(because of Suzie's expert instructions).
This was also a futurity show and my horses won me $600 !!! The horse, I thought would do the worst, did the best, our Chinook....Melissa didn't want to show him. She just wanted to attend the clinic, but...after he did so well there, she did ride him. He didn't win the class, but....a second place wasn't too bad... (and there were more than two horses in the class). We know we need to work on his largo....but he is only a baby....We are soo proud of him.
There also was a gelding there who didn't do so well in the spring fun show. His feet were done by a new farrier....or maybe the spring clinic (also held by Cindy) might have helped....He gaited very well at this show.
