Good article Sandy, and it exactly describes what happened to Mack last Thursday. Fortunantly, as our vet predicted, the trailer ride to the vet school was theraputic, and his colon was back in place. His spleen was still enlarged though, and they administered phenylephrine and exercised him to reduce the swelling. He was completely back to normal when Tony picked him up 6 hours later. We were, as always, very impressed with the doctors at the vet school. And the students on equine rotation were impressive too. We listened as the doctor quizzed them and they knew exactly what the procedure should be (as described in this article).
