What does she have to do in Level III

Thank you all. Level I is Friendship (mostly about safety), Level II is Harmony, where you build a relationship. You learn to be a good leader for your horse and the skills are transitions on line, change of directions on line and at Liberty, 7 games at Liberty, 7 games on-line with an object (used a hula hoop). Circles under saddle and drop-to-a trot lead changes. Trailer loading from a fender, holding horse's tongue, etc.
What does she have to do in Level III
Level 3 is Refinement. This is where you build on the relationship you've created and turn it into 'art.' You dance with the horse at Liberty, play through obstacles on a 45' line, load at Liberty into a horse trailer and through other obstacles, ride without any tack (naked), flying lead changes and cantering diagonally under saddle. Sidepass and halfpass at a trot (gait), both at Liberty and under saddle. :grayhorse:
In other words LOTS and LOTS of stuff. The Assessment is 45 pages long. LOL I expect it to take at least a year to get there, and I'm sure Parelli's will come out with the NEW Level III sometime in the middle of all that. LOL It's all good. I already do some of this with Zar.

Congratulations! Rosie looks good. I have two friends who are working on level III. It looks very tough. Can you jump on your horse bareback without steps or bucket? One of my friends is only about 5ft tall. She rides a 16 hd Tennessee Walker....

You're allowed to teach your horse to help you up. Many people teach their horse to lower their head, lean across their neck and the horse raises their head and then you slide down to the back. Saw a girl at the Savvy conference with a big draft horse. She'd straddle the horse's head and the horse would lift her up so she slid down the neck to the saddle. LOL You can also teach a bow or a lay down and get on. Not sure what I'll do yet. At 13.2 hh with Rosie, I think I can jump. But, long gone are the days I could swing up on like a gymnast.
The only eye-popper to me is standing on the horse. Not sure I want to do that one! LOL

Thank you all. (Is my friend Mo my old friend Moniece??? ;) You know, around here Mo is short for Mormon - have your converted?)
I was reading more of the Level 3 tasks yesterday and through the booklets. LOTS of cantering work, even cantering sideways. I think I need still a BIGGER arena!
LOL yep, thats me :-)!Had to reregister to get on.Oh boy...STAND on the horse?YIKES!!I'd be doing LOTS of work before trying that!!Your friend,Moniece

Even though I have several friends that are working on level III now, I have never asked....Does each horse gets recognized for being level II or is it the handler? What I mean is: do you have to make a video of each horse you train and send it in to get certified or is it YOU who can certify the horse? Does is cost each time? Does the horse get a certificate for being level II???

Cool LeAnn. I think the new Level II part on leads really helped me. I only started cantering her under saddle a month ago and if you do it right, you always get it right the first thing. Now Flying changes will take a while before we're ready to test those! LOL
Sharon, I didn't video assess. I assessed with Margaret, a local Instructor, at a clinic near here. Sorry...no videos. There are quite a few videos on-line at YouTube though.

Congratulations, Carol and Rosie. Do you do yoga? Might help with the standing on the horse part. Sounds like Rosie is really doing great for a young lady.
