We ended up with 4 Pasos at the Horse and Farm Expo in Fonda yesterday.....Marci, Espiritu and 2 of Karin Johnson's horses - Lucero (Pleasure Mare) and Kali - a 3 year old Fino prospect.
Marci and Espiritu were in the opening 'ceremony' - both had flags and were VERY good about it! We were able to practice outside, and wth the wind whipping neither one really cared about theis 'thing' flapping around their head and face. AWESOME!
We also actually ended up almost giving a mini-seminar during the day while working the horses in the outdoor ring, and Karin and Tracy were kind enough to give some test rides!
The demo was ok - the announcer cut out about 1/2 of the script I had given him - but the horses were well behaved and Marci jumped wonderfully!
After the demo, Tracy and I went back into the arena and answered more questions, and made the day of a disabled man who wanted to pet the horses and see one 'go fast'.......of course I obliged - then Marci went back and stood quietly while he petted her through the fence.
I think for next year, I am going to see if we can actually have a clinic or seminar time slot - at one point we had about 20 people watching and asking questions - and this was just from people walking over - no announcement etc.
Another interesting thing, the Pasos were the ONLY gaited breed represented......although next year there may be more.
So, who is in for next year haha.......
Tracy has pictures, when she finds her way home (she left here about 130pm) hopefully she will email me and we wil get some up here!
Today we went on a trail ride - about 2 hours- with a total of 9 people....it was almost an improptu get-together, but we had 3 people trailer horses in for the ride.
Beautiful weather - horses were good, NO BUGS!!!!! There were the 2 Pasos, 1 MFT, 1 Appy, 1 Arab, and I think the rest were QH people. A nice ride with a nice group of people!
Also, some of the people had been at the show last night, and comment on not knowing that Pasos could JUMP! They also complimented Marci....and of course Espiritu!
