I am wondering where is the best place to advertise on line. I want to know what you think are the most user freindly classified sites, or the ones you have got the best response from for your advertising dollar. I would like to find good sites that have advanced search featues that allow you can search specifically for "gaited" horses.
Please attach a link to the site so that I can check them out
Thanks

I am no longer allowed to look at the horse classified sections of the internet. I fact my hubby tells me I don't play nice on the computer.

Terri, I fight my hubby everymorning to keep the computer. That is why you don't see me this early sometime. It's first come first serve in this house. But, the kids only get one hour a day. He is mad at me now because I wont get off the comp for him to play cards. He just tried to take the remote to the TV from me and I yelled at him to give it back. If he wants to watch Spin City he can watch one of the other 4 TVs in this house. Not the one in this room. You hang in their. He will get over it. ;-)

  Oh, Bailey, you are terrific. I should explain. When I wrote that last night I had just shown Dennis the pix of Rosalita and how cute she was and he said "oh look all you want, but we have enough horses". Then we were laughing about a rather caustic/sarcastic/and down right funny email I had sent to some members in leadership at our church. I am treasurer and a trained accountant. They didn't seem to be understanding the concepts I was trying to explain, so I got a little out of hand. I am sure they don't think it was so funny. I will probably "pay" for it later. But that is when Dennis said I didn't play nice on the internet. And since I had had a glass of wine, I decided to post what he said. It was all just silly.

I did buy Picasso to head up my pinto breeding program and he is a fantatstic stallion with great lines. Unfortunately it appears that he is not going to reach his sires height of 15hh. He appears to be taking after his dam who is 14.2 hh. I know that 14.2 is a good size for a Paso Fino but here in Western Canada my clients want horses that are over 15hh. Ultimately I have to breed to what the market desires, and as much as I like Picasso, and as nice as his babies are, I need to find him a new home so I can make way for a bigger stallion.
Picasso is a very friendly stallion, he is very naturally gaited with a good long stride, he should have a great largo! I had him started with a John Lyons certified trainer and he was very impressed with how amenable this stallion was to work with. It will be hard to let him go but ultimately I know that I have to.

Hi Rose Mary..I "feel" your pain... the pinto I bought for stud is too small also... and I am selling him. He is a BF champion, but just too small for "Colorado" ...the heart of warmblood & "big horse" country!
I wish you better luck selling than I have had... ;-)

Ya'll better find the 15 hh+ mares for broodstock. I think that the mare is more the contributing factor to the foal's size, unless the stallion is very small. Color should help sell too, but you may need homozygous color breeding stock too.
That of course the rest of the Paso Fino factors are there too. Anyway, personally if I want to produce more size on a horse, I look towards finding it in the mare first, and that the mare has some size in her close ancestors too. I have people looking for all size paso finos 13.3-15 hh, just not pintos and just not stallions...sorry.

I have to agree with you on that Lynn.
My Incendio is almost 14.2 I round it off to that!
his dad Terris Mico is a hair under 14. we round it off to that
the MOM was the size Incnendio is.
look back at horses that throw size now, Coral LaCe was only 14 h and he now has lots of off spring, and grand kids that are 15 hands.
I would go with the mare!

I do have 4 mares that are over 14.3hh and a couple are over 15.1hh. All of the mares that I am breeding are 14.1 or larger. We are gradually selling off our smaller stock and soon I will not be breeding any mare under 14.2hh. I have a couple of young mares coming up that are going to hit the 15hh mark and they are being held back for breeding stock.
My senior herd sire is 14.2 hh and I will be keeping him. But out here in the west, where everyone is used to riding to big chunky Quarter Horses, size truly is king! So I need a big stallion!
I have a homozygous creme colt that is coming two this year. We are hoping to breed him and produce some big foals. His sire is 16 hh and his dam is 15.1 hh. The colt is big and chunky and he certainly should have the genetics to throw size.
