I bought a camera from e-bay a couple of months ago. I checked on the feedback of seller-- it was great. Said camera would work perfectly. Paid with Paypal. As soon as it arrived- within 4 days, I turned it on...I knew immediately it was broke (I have had the same type of camera for 4 years). I contacted the seller within 10 minutes, who responded about as fast, saying that I broke it....
Well....I went through all this with paypal (filed a claim) and got my money back. I had to ship the camera back.
Now.... he wrote on feedback to me "Seller beware. E-bay scammer". I wonder what I can do about that? This was the very first time I ever bought anything on e-bay. Now, I have only one feedback and it is negative. I won't buy anything else ever, but what if I want to sell something? How can I defend myself?
I had no benefit from this transaction...To be called a "scammer" is just not right. I actually lost $10 because I had to ship the thing back....
By the way, he is selling this camera on e-bay again, but this time he does list it with the defect...of course he does not mention that this defect is making the entire camera inoperable, totally useless.

Honestly, make up a new ebay name. You don't have other history so it won't matter. No worries = )

I'm sorry you had a bad experience on your first ebay transaction. I've bought and sold on a limited basis for nearly eight years with most transactions being very pleasant and beneficial.

I agree with Jenn ... just start a new ebay ID ... you will need a new email address, but everything else can be directed the same.

I believe after 180 days of no activity you can close the account, which if you chose to start a new ID would be suggested so no one can hijack it some where down the road.

This was the first time I "won" an auction. I bidded on one other one, but didn't have the highest bid. It was pretty bad, too... a day after the auction closed, I was contacted by someone and offered a "second chance". If I wanted the item, to contact someone at an e-mail address....At first I was excited, but then several things just didn't seem to add up and I sent the info to e-bay to investigate....They told me that it was a scam.
This makes two tries with two bad experiences...After this...I don't know. If I am the seller, how can I be sure to get paid?
If I used a new name....wouldn't I need to open up a new paypal account, too?
I don't know, I might just "stick" to buying local stuff and new purchases from reputable sellers (companies)....

I've bought a lot off ebay and sold some. Only a couple of times have I been disappointed but it usually got worked out. Did you leave feedback on the seller? You can tell your side if you didn't.

You should be able to counter the feedback he gave you on your ID, too. There should be a place to click on in your feedback area to leave a reply.

Thank you for the suggestion on opening a new account. Linda, I just found where you can leave an additional feedback on his and my feedback....I left the facts. I also complained to e-bay customer service. Doubt, that they will do anything, though.
When I left my feedback, I tried to just state facts...no name calling. For me, it doesn't look good, since this is the only feedback I have as a buyer or seller. He has nearly 3,000 and a red star. Only my negative feedback in the last 6 months (26 all together). So...there's more damage to me than to him. I think that's pretty unfair. Anyway....no more e-bay for me.

I know....it hurts your feelings! I have had only 1 negative from a wack-o called mytebyte on eBay. We had left a neutral because he sold us a movie that was taped from TV! And he had the gall to leave a negative, screaming how we had multiple IDs...I have only had 1 ID since I joined YEARS ago...and everyone beware. What a NUTcase he was...probably still is. There are lots of those on eBay. Don't let it stop you from hunting the bargains...there are fine, reputable sellers out there.

I am assuming you checked this guys feed back?
He is just mad because he lost money. I have been on ebay for a long time & delt with all kinds of people, but I honestly don't see where they would have left you a neg if you returned the item.
You can contact ebay & I believe you can have the neg withdrawn somehow. They have an instant chat so you can talk right then and there if they are full.

I got negged for the same thing. Bought a wanna be George Foreman grill and when it got here it turned out half was a flat grill and half raised. It never stated it was half and half and his ad was faulty. Never did get a dime back and it's stiill sitting in the garage.

There is a resolution center where you can work this out - ebay will allow feedback to be withdrawn at mutual agreement at times.....

I recently had a buyer in Australia buy 2 LARGE items I had up - then wanted to back out because of the shipping charges (@$50-!) - I allowed it, but had them pay me the purchase price (a whopping $2.00) to at least cover my fees......once that was paid I closed out the items.
