I just bought a baseball cap with a light built in. Omigosh, I love it. It makes running next door to feed or doing poop detail after dark easy.
Tony says I'm a dork...but I love it...lol

I bought mine at Lowes, but it looks exactly like this one.

Finogirl,
It lights up a good area infront of you.
The only negative I've found is that everytime you turn to look at someone while you're talking to flash the light in their eyes.
But really....who cares about THEM.....the hat is cool.

sounds good to me...might scare the horses at first but I'm sure they'll get used to it.

Moniece, Mike sells the 'you know what' out of those lights. He does not have the ones built into the caps. These lights are clip-ons. They are very handy, specially if you have to check on the horses in the dark. I'll see if I can send you some.

I bought the clip on kind at Wal-Mart. They are bright and work well while walking and doing regular chores. They can frighten the horses when you shine it in their eyes but they get used to it like any other flashlight.
The only problem is when you are doing close up work like cleaning feet. The light doesn't shine directly on the foot so you have to bend your head down more. That is even more of a problem when you wear bi-focal or progressive eye glasses.

Dorky head lights are on a swivel so you can bend them to beam wherever you need the light. I love my head light ... so I guess I'm a dork. Ah well, there are worse fates! *grin*

The clip-on kind from Wally world are led types, and it took me a use or two to get used to the color - it flattens everything out. I love them, though, and have one in the car, the barn, and at my most-used doors.
Once I almost popped a contact lens out aiming my head one way for the and looking another way for the poop!

I love my Rayovac headlamp from LOWES. It has two LED's - red and white - plus a spot light and runs on three AAA batteries. It is up and down adjustable but not left right. The great thing is if the batteries get weak and the spotlight goes dim or out, the LED's still work and when the white LED goes out the red one still works for a long time. The horses really prefer the red one and we used it to watch our mares when they gave birth. Red also doesn't interefere with your night vision. When we rode our horses Halloween night Kyle wore his light on red facing forward and I put mine on facing backward to we had a red warning light shining in both directions to warn traffic. We do the same thing when we walk along the road at night.
