Hi All,
I'm looking to purchase and older Paso Fino Stallion.Something between the age of 18-22 and sound for a small farm.We have 4 mares but are expanding.A show record would be nice but not nessary. I'd like horse to be at least 14HH have no major health problems and be fairlly easy to handle.Would like to be able to ride this horse lightly no major work.
I can offer this horse a great home lots of love and attention, turn out, regular vet and ferrier work, girls ,a private stall but he can see other horses. We feed quility grain and hay 2 times a day horse are never left outside over night .Out nearst neighbor is 1/4 mile away.we are serounded by trees. and our fences contain no bar wire .
Willing to pay a fair price not to high due to age of horse but can give back a foal or free breeding for the life of the horse plus some payment/$$ depends on the horse. We do show so might take Stallion for demos.
Please e-mail if you have or know of a horse that would work for me also if you need more info on me and what can be offered.I'm planning to look for a while as i will want to come see the horse but when i find the one o want will purchase quickly
Thank You

I live in West Tennessee.I'm willing to travel up to 1000 so south FL is ok as well as the New england states.Sorry OR,WA,and CA a little far.but pretty much depends on the horse and the price.I'm not looking to spend a great deal due to This will be a retirement home so he'll go no further.
Thank You

Ok since you are willing to go pretty far thats good. I would try going on to www.pfha.org and then to the farm directory and go to all the farm with in the states you are willing to travel. I can think of a older paso stallion for sale that I know of right now :-? but Best of luck!!!

what about type? Are you looking for or wanting to stay away from any certain bloodlines? Looking for a pure show..pure pleasure or one that has the ability to produce a horse that can go wither way?

I do like to show The classes I do best with are country pleasure and Western pleasure, but all of my horses are said to be performace/pleasure type.so I like a hotter bloodline w/ a good mind.I don't push my horse they are happy at what they do.So I'd like a show performance/pleasure horse that way the babies won't be tooo queit to show but will also be something the average person will like.Thats where the mind come in.The bloodline I need to stay away from is El Pastor I love this horse but Have 3 mares loaded with him So I'm not looking for that don't want o get wo backed up on bloodlines. Also trying to stay with a sizeable horse 14+.

Call the PFHA and ask for the owner contact for horse #5879.
I have some photos of him I could email you ... PM me your email.
I am not aquainted with his owners... I had seen him listed for sale and had a look at him on a website.

Hey, Terry, would you send me those photos too? Don't worry, Serendipity, with four uncut boys on the place right now, I'm not interested in buying! But I have a Flint Oak Destiny granddaughter, and I'd like to compare. She's small though...and produces small. I've considered selling her, but golly, she produces such sweet temperament and nice gait.

May I ask why you wish to only purchase an older stallion? (Not that I do not have older stallions here....) I'm just curious.

I'll take a guess.... because they are often times lower priced, by a LOT.
That is how I got into breeding AQHA horses, I bought up the older, proven broodmares, anywhere I could get one.... this was around 30 years ago, when a good proven broodmare..in the 16 to 19 year old area would run $500 to $1,000...often already bred.... as a two-in-one package.
This was how I was able to get daughters of Depth Charge, Silver Skip, Palo's Dandy, and Top Moon/Moon Deck.

Right you are an older Stallion has a lot offer, they've been there done that .If you figure cost for cost to raise or purchases a colt then raise him train him and show him thats a whole lot of money plus there is no garontee that he will do well no matter how well bred he is.with an older Stallion he's already been through that and if he's still a stallion there is a reason so in a sence cutting out the middle man.
Plus top breeders normally have a lot of Stallions and one though good is not used much and not much is done with him for one reason or another.I was told by 3 top breeders that you should only breed for Fino and if he get something else then you go from there so since fino has evolved so much from 5-10yr ago those horses are really no longer fino they could not cut it in a class today and I'm not saying they are any less horse its the the way the breed is progressing and Stallion like Capaccino or Resorte IV or 222 just to name a few are still great stallions but say a grand son of one of them or any of our other great stallions that maybe whent to Nat'l and places 4th or below the breedes go on to better horses that will win those are the stallions I'm looking for and if I can I want nothing to do with fino horses I don't mind fino in the background but I don't want a fino horse themself, performace is my prefered and pleasure is close by as long as its a true pleasure stallion Like Lynn Burkes Stallion Santiago what an awesome horse.
Hope that helps understand why I want an older horse in a nut shell I'm looking for the horse that has been pushed back and almost forgotten that needs a second chance
Thanks to all the people that have e-mailed me I will let you know when I find this horse, I've also looked at a few young colts also so who knows.

A true Pleasure Stallion:

Rojo Tejas
This has to be what the plantation owners rode...he has an easy long stride and ground covering gait...you could ride this guy forever....fino, he's not...but he's not a fino cull either!
Of course, he's not for sale. ;-)

Nicole,
I PM'd you before, maybe you didn't get it because I didn't get a reply. I have a stallion, Exito Del Arabe. He has produced extremely well for us. You can see some video of him at:
http://homepage.mac.com/haciendadelsol/iMovieTheater20.html
He has no Resorte in his pedigree, which makes him a great choice for Resorte mares. His bloodlines include, Ladrillo, Independiente (the father of La Maraca, mother of Maraquita) and others of note. He is extremely well gaited. I have too many stallions and am looking ot retire him somewhere, but I would like to retain breeding rights. Some others here like Terry may be able to tell you a little about him as well. You can email me at haciendadelsol@mac.com
Here's a pic:

Jamie I think she ended up buying a young unbroke colt instead of the aged atallion she started looking for on this post..there was another post called "I found my colt" I think it was her.

To anyone interested in Exito, I have seen him both in person and in the show ring...he is gorgeous, and very well behaved. You would not be disappointed in this stallion. Jamie has very nice stock!
