Scary! My little sis is on myspace.com, her profile is blocked to only her friends on her list. I hope she doesnt choose to let some weirdo she doesnt know into her profile. we are gonna have a chat..
HMM TRUE ... but i dont think anyone really want to meet someone off there... and most of my friends dont even have all the information one will need to find you.

yeah they say the same things about kids who have a xanga (another myspace type website)
well basically everyone i know including me has a xanga website and in my experience if someone you dont know talks to you...do not talk to them its that simple...if the kids were smart enough not to talk to predators then they wont have any problems

My parents told me years ago I was not allowed to blog on any of those sites - despite the fact that my friends do. I am totally on board with their decision adn have been for years now. They really know best! So much scary stuff can happen on there...

Some kids just dont know what they are doing!!
Unfortunately, it is the PARENTS who don't know what their kids are doing... We need to get back to parents raising kids instead of the tv/copmputer raising them.

Primetime had a story on awhile back..some girls were purposely tricked by an undercover cop..These girls swore they never gave out info..but by reading their site any good con person can figure stuff out.If you post what state you are in ..and say a high school team name like'the bobcats' or a pic of you in a sports uniform with school colors they can start a search for you (yeah I know there is more than one 'bobcats' but it starts the narrowing down.Simple things like talking about where you work..what time you and a friend are going somewhere etc can give a determined person the clues they need to find you. One of the girls even said in chatting that she and this guy shoul;d meet..she denied it in the interview until they brought the transcripts in..She said she didnt remember saying it..This guy had them convinced he was some young guy who had just moved into their area and was looking for friends..thankfully it was to prove to the parents what was happening..not some real perv...

Both of my kids, one is a 18-boy, the other is 17-girl, have myspacees. My son, actually, pretends that he is younger than he is, so he can stay private....Both sites are set to "private". Neither allows strangers on their sites. They opted not to fill out any of the questionnaires....I check both sites, frequently, at least every other day. Neither seems to mind it. It looks very harmless...I see no addresses, last names, or activities posted...I check messages going out and coming in. I ask questions if I don't recognize one of their friends. Not many pictures are posted...Some of their friends show flowers, cats, cartoons, instead of a picture of themselves....my daughter has two horses "kissing" as her main (introductory) picture....

in my opinion the kids who are violated by people they meet on myspace or chat rooms are one thing---dumb
wasnt every child taught not to talk to strangers??
if you werent then the point is your parent wasnt looking out for you
helene checking her kids myspaces is responsible if more parents did that and more kids were smart enough to stick with their friends then half these kids wouldnt be in trouble (take that natalie halloway that got kidnapped or what have you on vacation...it was her choice to go off with strangers...look where that got her)
you can argue that the kids dont know any better because theyre kids...but hey im a kid i have a myspace u dont see me being stalked by some creepy 40 year old man pretending to be 14
so my advice after all that dont talk to people you dont know stick to your friends and people you know
