View Full Version : Bob Is Not At Fault!!!

I have had so many calls now getting so many versions of things. I got 3 separate calls about a couple posts on another site. This person was apparently slamming (my interpretation of what I was told):

My ability to control my horse: I could care less what others think when they have no education about the Paso Fino breed. I admitted I may have made a mistake but I am not going to beat myself up over it.

They had opinions of how Blessing was acting: I could care less since they apparently know nothing of the Paso Fino breed. Blessing is a seasoned parade horse and I do not plan on spending the rest of my life defending him. "I" know what he can do and what his abilities are. He is a horse! He reacts to something different! Period! I am not going to say that even the best horse may not make a mistake. But as much as it causes me pain to type this, it is something I have to do. I fully intend to approach this on a learning basis. Nothing more. nothing less. I could care less whether or not people think there was or was not a BB shot. In my other post I allowed each of you to make your own judgment. I already know how "I" feel.

But the absolute WORST thing they did to me was slam a Friend of mine of the breed! Bob Evans was 1/2 mile away and was NOT at fault in any way shape form or fashion for my accident. Not BEFORE, DURING or AFTER!

He was distraught yes, but he reported what he was told and when he found out something different like the good person he is he corrected it. And still he did nothing wrong PERIOD! He has done nothing but promote and love our wonderful breed.

He is ready willing and able to help a Paso owner in any way he can. SO I guess that makes me wrong because I spoke to a few folks by phone and "was" told they saw me being trampled. So i guess as Bob was called a liar, then so am I.

It was also posted that Bob was not going to be allowed to do Paso's on Parade anymore. "That" is not true! "I" have been told personally by those in charge nothing would change because our horses are wanted back next year and I for one WILL be there and in costume too.

It is so sad that this person had to go on another board and say such horrible things.(hmm wonder why they couldn't say it on our own board?)

Even though the post was removed, it was seen, So now I am here to tell anyone who may read this and may have posted on that other board ( bear in mind I AM NOT accusing ANYONE from THIS board because I do not FEEL ANYONE who is a regular here would EVER say or do such a thing)

1. Bob posted as a friend letting other friends know about an accident.

2. Any mis information he immediately corrected, (his heart was speaking first)

3. I was intubated since they called Bob a liar and said I was not since one of THEIR family members were riding behind me and told them so. (hmm does that not sound like they were reporting as they were told?)

4. Blessing is a Paso and this person said he acted up the entire parade and funny thing everyone I spoke with says just the opposite

Please lets learn and go forward! I am pleading. STOP name calling and if you feel this way feel free to call me and tell me yourself (386-454-2872) DO NOT GO BEHIND MY BACK AND REPORT ON A DIFFERENT BOARD WHAT YOU WERE "TOLD"!

I give Bob and Grace a lot of credit and my undying thanks as I have tried to thank each of you by phone or card.

As I said before I will pay you ALL BACK. I have more to be thankful for than some person who did the same thing he/she accused Bob of doing.

So does this mean that person is at fault for my accident? Come on it was an accident! Get over it!

Oh yes I forgot they also said they would not send $$ ( I never asked for any period and I am overwhelmed out at the outpouring of love a care from true friends from this board) but they would send me a helmet. Keep it! I would not accept it. I can get my own.

Done and Done!

MY accident and if it makes you happy My fault. "I" will pay my way. I do not beg for nor ask for anything.

What's this other board that people keep mentioning, and then pretending they don't want anybody to know about?

Oh Leila, please don't get to worked up about this kinda of stuff. People like to say all kinds of things to make themselves "important". A number of years ago I sat on the School Committee and was frequently misquoted - and that was before the internet. Ask any football or baseball player or well known person and they will tell all kinds of bizzare stuff gets written about them that is just plain made up from whole cloth. The headlines in the sports yesterday was full of stories that Dallas' qrtback Tony Romo didn't play well because his girlfriend was in the stands, and at the bottom of the article was the info that he also had a broken thumb. Unbelievable, wonder how that made him feel.

The internet makes this even more severe. People have a place to write anything they want, true or not, to make themselves look important and in the "know". You can't get to defensive or impassioned about it because that just gives them more attention and that is exactly what they want. The response is to not response and then only their friends (if they have any) will pay attention to them. Your friends know you and Bob and wouldn't believe "them" anyway. The horsey world is a small place and there are definite "groups" who like to sit together and talk about the other groups. Your friends love you, ignore the rest.

Leila - it was an ACCIDENT and if folks can't understand the very nature of what an accident is, then tough patootie. Quit defending yourself, you didn't pull out a bb gun and shoot Blessing and whack your head on the pavement for fun. I'm so sorry this had to happen and just wish you would quit worrying about it so you can rest and GET BETTER. Now go kiss that new baby and take a nap with him.

What Terri said. Never underestimate how mean people can be.

It was an accident. Accident's happen. The only people who don't make mistakes are those who don't do anything.

Bob is GOOD PEOPLE!

Accidents Happen, just glad you are going to be ok. You have been in my prayers since it happened. Your poor horse must have been terrified. It never ceases to amaze me at the stupidity in the world. You have a very special horse to have not reacted more severly than he did. I am just glad that you and Blessing are ok.

What Terri said, again. Relax and recovder, Leila. You know who loves you. You know who worries about you. You know who is praying for your's and Blessing's sanity and health. And it ain't "them". ;)

You should go read EchoWest's new thread (a short joke) - unless laughing until you cry will delay your recovery!

I did this post mostly for Bob's sake. HE was slammed and being a newspaper person HIS reputation was being questioned.

Believe me, I am fine and Bob will be to.

Accidents happen.

Most (certainly not all) of the time, the rider at least contributes to them. Who among us has never done something that, in hindsight, was a mistake? (I think we had an entire thread at some point on this very subject. Some of the mistakes were serious, and some were comical -- but they were all mistakes.)

We're all just glad that you and Blessing came out of this particular accident whole and healthy. That's the only important thing.

Is that the forum that everybody goes to that's "secret" though? I keep hearing about a secret or hidden forum only vaguely referenced in other posts.

You know what amazes me the most about this? Those "people" for lack of a better word or even something that I cannot post here, have taken it upon themselves to attack and create that which was not there to begin with. I met Bob and Lela one time and know their paso hearts to be true in every sense of the word. It is those that talk without listening or viewing first who start crap, literally. Any horse in the world, even the bomb proof ones will spook when the time is right and yes when it happens usually there are serious if not fatal consequences. That is the nature of riding a 1000 lb animal. You can be hurt just as badly walking across the street. So give it up. A very terrible accident occurred. Thank you lord for protecting Leila as much as you could and allowing her to remain with us. Thank you for protecting Blessing. Thank you for Bob and his sincerest of reporting whether it be good or bad news we all need to know everything from somebody we trust. As far as everything else goes, all the stuff in the middle, consider the source and move on. These people thrive on that which is not true and by continuing to talk about the accident and saying bad things about good people, only gives those idiots more fire, lets blow it out and concentrate on Leila and Blessing and their speedy recovery. As for Bob, he will remain a permanent fixture in the reporting of the most current and up to date news. Keep up the good work, BOB.!!

I'll never understand what mades people WANT to be part of a bad situation. You'd think they would just look on....maybe offer some support...and remain quiet.

But it never fails...when controversy begins -- there is that percentage of the public that is not above lying just to somehow become a part of it.

You've all heard about how the son of my neighbor jumped on the variance issue here by saying that Snowy (my old blind Appy) was jumping two fences and tearing up his lawn. Apparently putting himself back in afterwards.

I loved reading the newspaper article after I was with a group that was attacked by pittbulls and the reporter said that three riders harassed two pitbulls and then a fight ensued. Yep, you've seen that happen everyday. Riders LOVE to tease loose pitbulls just for laughs.

Anyone with a lick of intelligence disregards the spouting of idiots. I'm sure most of the readers on that forum were also wondering what the heck those people were posting for.

And anyone who critiques how you rode in that parade -- I sure would love to see them ride. I'd bet anything that the loudest critics are the worst riders. Experienced riders know that no matter how you prepare.....life happens. It's like saying that you never trip over anything. You may not have tripped lately, but everyone hits the dirt eventually.

Leila, your beauty shines through in this situation. Your grace, your forgiveness, your loyalty to your friends (both human and equine). I'm sorry that you have to defend your friends -- but I'm not sorry that I have to read it. Awful things happen to everyone eventually. I hope I display half of your strength and character when I face my next challenge. Your posts give me hope. There may be crazy people out there, but the world will always balance that with good, caring people. That makes surviving the crazies easier.
