I finally got Chino home with me and Jake. He's been at a friend's barn since August.
I was actually ready and had plans for him to be home before Dec 1st but I was called home for Grandma's funeral the same weekend he was to come home.
Between being gone and coordinating schedules after my return, Chino finally arrived home today. And he brought two buddies with him. A dark bay w/red highlights, a gray, and a bright sorrel out in the snow are looking mighty pleasing to my eye.
He's the most lovable PITA horse I've ever known. I didn't realize how much I missed him.... today is good day. Jake is obviously happy to have Chino home also.
Bet you are just tickled, Mitch! poor chino must be wondering how he landed in minnesota after being in kentucky last year. :v: so where are the pictures?
how about the one of Jake leading Chino? i just love that one!
even if it's not a recent one.

Happy day short lived....... lol.
I have a large open barn for shelter, but knew it would take Chino a few days before he'd dare enter that dangerous cave on his own to seek shelter.
We had a snow in the forecast, with quickly falling temps to follow the precip. Being all 3 are plump, hairy and in good health, I knew the snow would create a nice insulating blanket for them. So being out in the weather wasn't a concern. Unfortunately it warmed up to 32 degrees last night and we got rain , not snow. Realizing the 2 subordinant geldings wouldn't go to the barn unless following Chino's lead, I was out in freezing rain at 3:30 am moving round pen panels into the barn for temporary stalls. And then had to stay with Chino for an hour before he'd settle down and accept being indoors. ( the 2 normal horses seemed quite happy to be inside out of the freezing rain).
Some towel drying, blankets for a couple of hours and everyone is dry , fluffy and happily munching their alfalfa. ( except for me, I'm grumpy from lost sleep...... and to think I had actually thought I had missed my PITA <grin> )

Guess last night falls into the "no good deed goes unpunished" maxim. Hope you are dry and warm by now.
Love the picture, by the way, that is priceless! Guess everything is "jake" with Chino.
