I have a very hollow feeling in my gut, even though I am happy as can be at the outcome, but as of today, Ms. T, my half QH half Paso mare that so many of you watched grow up, has been sold. She is going to a wonderful home with a nice young lady that intends to use her for pleasure riding...this could be a forever home for her.
And best news is, she is still here til April or May because.....she is going to be bred to ROJO TEJAS!! I'm very excited about this because I've always felt that she and Red would produce an awesome baby and her new owner feels the same!
Here's Ms. T:

Here, of course, is Rojo:

...and I think the new owner has hopes of getting a colt like this. Here's Devante, Rojo Tejas son, and half brother to Ms. T:

Congrats on selling her. I am sure it will be bittersweet. How awesome she will have a Rojo baby!

I know how you feel. I have a man interested in Bruiser. I feel like Judas. :(

Congratulations, I really like that little mare.

 Gasp! ***spit***sputter***Ekkk! you can't be serious!

(well, it is her horse!)

But, but, Carol! we don't even know this woman!

(like carol didn't give her the third degree before she let her near her?)

Sigh, we know you too well, Carol! Congrats on finding a wonderful home for Ms. T! i can hardly wait for more up-dates from the new owner and the baby she will have out of her and the Red Man next year! ;)

Adam, Red measured out at 14.1 H. a couple of years ago. But under saddle he pumps up and carries himself very regally.
Now Devante is already taller than his daddy at 14.2 and he is only coming on three years old. Here is Miguel on Devante.

WOW - it's almost like your daughter getting married! Happy for her but sad that she's all grown up and ready to move on. I'm sure you hired a PI to check out this person before you decided to let your precious Ms. T go to a new home;);)

Motorgypsies...I REALLY like this woman that's buying her. She's the kind that buys a horse and keeps it forever when they hit a chord. I think she's a lot like me in how she cares for her animals...but she RIDES a whole lot more than I do!!! Grin!

Carol, your horses are so beautiful! And in good shape!

I had the vet out to see my old guy yesterday. Just to keep the mare nearby (which keeps the old Mr Hormones happy) I threw her a flake of hay. The vet said "ya know they should have hay 24/7." I laughed and said "even her?". She is getting to be a fatty on air. She is as red as Rojo. Just wish her belly was as nice. Sorry, just couldn't help notice the under carriage of your ponies......

Jodi it's funny that you mentioned that because since our guys are on sand we really have to keep hay out 24/7 to keep them from eating the sand - and we have some major PORKCHOPS. Luckily they run around a lot.

But the hay producers all look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them I'm looking for the least nutritious hay I can find. One was trying to tell me to keep one of those compressed giant alfalfa blocks out in the pasture. And I rolled my eyes at him and said - you can't be serious. They'd be so fat they couldn't walk!

Out of our 13 horses only four aren't at least somewhat porky - and two of those are still growing, one is 26 and the last is our breeding stallion who plays nonstop with his son and buddy and chases our obnoxious mini stallion when he gets too annoying. And three of those four are still category 5's on body condition or higher. No ribs showing at all. I swear they get fat on air.

I hope Mrs. Ts new owner joins the list and keeps us posted on the baby and on Mrs. T and her success on the trails. Unfortuanately I have no pictures but I entered my QH/Paso, Hijo, in a versatility contest this weekend. He won ground driving and was middle of the pack in everything else. He ended up 5 of 13 after 6 events. I challenged a friend who was judging to find an obstacle that could "spook" him and she did! It was two fans on chairs facing each other with surveyor's tape flapping at the horse's flanks. We first met it during extreme in hand trail. Even when the fans were long gone he was still skittery in that part of the arena. We'll be used to fans at the end of the this week. So glad to work on something like this again. The bridge was meant to be scary. It was covered with a layer of bubble wrap and then black plastic. No problems there in hand or riding. We lost a ton of points in trail when he picked up a Xmas tree and paraded with it for a few steps. We were the youngest horse by far. The average age of the horses was around 16 years old at this event!

Make sure you let the owner know what a precious cross this is!

Nancy
