In the past many have asked about feeding beet pulp to their horses. Here is a link with some good info from Southern States.

Thanks, Bob! I am a huge beet pulp fan...as are my horses! Wish I could get it in feed form, but for now have to feed the shreds.

Yep Beet pulp is awesome. That is all I feed my older ones along with there vita horse minerals and vita horse vitamins plus some alfalfa cube treets once in awhile. Their poop is great. lol That helped stormy in the mountains so she would not get dehydrated from the travel and stay. Feed it at home and its like she never left.

We also feed a beet pulp based feed and use beet pulp in addition to their very small grain portion for our fatter horses since it's lower in calories but swells up a lot with added water so they THINK they are getting lots of food. There are a lot of sources that say you don't have to soak beet pulp. We just add about double the quantity of beet pulp in water, leave it for about five minutes, then feed it. Since it's soup they don't eat it fast and aren't prone to choking on it even they are a pig. And they do slurp up all the water so it helps keep them hydrated which is one reason I really like it. We also add water to the beet pulp based feeds even though they are hydrated quite a bit already. Just one more way to keep the guys hydrated all year long.
