Hi gang. I just got some exciting news from CPHA.

They have approved the largo race for the Gold Cup Show in Las Vegas this July! I am getting more details on if it will be an actual class, which I think it will be. They say they are running it like nascar. I should have some new details by tomorrow for you. But isn't this exciting? 8-)

running it like Nascar..so you are allowed to run into your opponents..you can have all kinds of ads plastered to you,your horse and tack..And when you win you have to hop off your horse and crack open a bottle or can of "Beverage X" who is your biggest paying sponsor and guzzle it down thanking everyone and thier brother..but especially God and your Momma..Do you get to do pit stops and jack up the horse ,pull shoes and tack four new ones on?? Hate to think WHERE they stick that big gas can funnel :shock: Ok I am finished now....

Well it might be b/c they asked me to wear a bikini and high heels holding a sign showing what lap your on for the participants. :rofl ONLY JOKING :lol:

I'm not sure what they meant by the Nascar comment exactly, but I'm trying to find out.

Nascar is judged by how fast they make a lap. each participant is timed and who ever finished the 4 laps the fastest wins.

Getting more details. But there will be preliminary heats to qualify. AND....there is a rumor I can't wait to confirm. :jumpy You guys are gonna love it.

When I spoke to the VP of CPFHA last night, he told me the main reason they are even having this class is because I asked them on behalf of you guys, and the respose to the show from this website. So don't let me down. This is what you all have been waiting for....a show that asks you what you want and gives it to you. Lets show our appreciation and get out there and LARGO ON! :horsey: :grayhorse:

I will posting the finalized rules as soon as they are approved. :D I got a sneak peek at them and so far I am very impressed w/this operation. A lot of effort and organization has gone into this event and it will show. This will not be like previous years at Nationals. The show committee is trying real hard to spotlight this for us and make it as exciting and fair as possible.

I also asked if anyone could ride any horse regaurdless of who is the owner...and the answer was YES!!! So that opens up a lot of doors for ppl like me...and say PH or Bailey. ;-) :rearing

They're going to have a "Performance Stallion" as the pace setter? That should be interesting. What happens when he is passed?

I guess you know that the biggest breeder of Largo horses in the US is two hours outside of Vegas? When Isaac entered our race, no one else would, he scared off all the competition.

I thought you weren't allowed to pass the pace care/horse until the green flag. ;-) I would imagine a Perf. horse like El Chacal could set a decent pace. But I have no idea who they plan to use.

If you are in Florida, and you decide to go, there's a good chance I could tag along ... I don't mind driving my truck/trailer out there, but would prefer somebody else with me, not alone. (Well, my dog would come.)
