A bunch of we NY gals with gaiting horses are going to be camping/riding at the Fair Hills, MD facility (old DuPont Estate) arriving April 30 departing May 5. Anyone that would like to join our group for all or part of this time would be more than welcome. You would need to pay you own expenses, of course, but we are making reservations and have given an approximate number to be staying during this time. This is a wonderful place to ride gaiting horses - 5,000 acres, gentle rolling hills, more trails than you can imagine. Even if your horse is not in condition this time of year, this is not challenging terrain. The place is booked every weekend through November 2006 and to get reservations during the week is also getting tough, so if you are interested please let me know via PM and we will include you in our reservation. There are showers and bathrooms, huge stalls for your horses. I believe all the campsites with hookups are taken, but there may be one or two left. There are also some folks meeting us there from the southern states with TWH and other gaiting and non-gaiting breeds. Oh, BTW some of us are even bringing our husbands. It WILL be a good time guaranteed! Here is the website:

Boy are you guys going to have fun! Fair Hills is a gorgeous place to ride, I've only been there once but it was sooooooo nice. Could you post a reminder as the time gets near? If I can I'll come up for a day to ride!

Coreen - I will post a reminder around that time. I have been there a couple times. Once to trailride and once fox hunting. It is a gaiting horse rider's dream. My horses are used to up and down hills and rocky and mud bog trails and having few spots where you can really get out and gait, but the Fairhills trails are so conducive to gaiting. We love it. And...the pasos can ride UNDER the steeplechase jumps - really!

I watched a segment on the Dupont forest on Best of America by Horseback. Looks like an awesome place to ride. Too far for me, though....
Have lots of fun and take lots of pictures!!
