Yeah Boyd, don't hold back. He's very pretty, looks like Santiago (prettier then Santiago). You're going to be horse poor pretty soon!.

He didn't come quitely. kicking and screaming all the way.
He thought I looked better with hoof prints on my face and backside.
I first done a bladder line test and he appears to have knee problems. Hence the bucking trying to rid his rider.
then the ground work
he went into a nice gait while lunging and about five laps then he turned and started to kick at me. I would work his rear away and he would trying to run me over. well I soon got some discipline out of him so we started for the trailer. and his brakes went on. So we done some backing. But everytime we started for the trailer he would freeze. So back we went until ooops the trailer bit him in the butt. It took about an hour of trying his best to break halters and leads when he gave up and jumped in.
He is sweet as a bug until you ask him to do something and then the fight is on. My impression is that he was injured some time back and he relates pain to work and he has had enough. And of course his owner has spoiled him rotten. I have a call into Vickie and once she gets his knees feeling better then we will start on rewoking his head. The sweet guy is there we just got to understand work and a saddle is a good thing.

I think he and Santiago stole each other's socks! LOL

Sounds like you had a rough time of it. Glad you didn't lose patience and saw him through. Sounds very typical for a spoiled rotten horse. Kind of funny but once you get past the spoiled rotten part, they usually decide working rather then fighting is a lot easier. The reason they are spoiled is that they were SMART enough to figure out they could get away with it. They are usually SMART enough to figure out when it isn't working anymore too.
Nice horse Boyd.

He is Noche Bueno. And I told you he was beautiful. I am glad you have him now Boyd. I will be down soon to check up on him. LOL. He just need to trust again and you can get him to do that. Good luck. And BE CAREFUL.
BTW, I would change that O to an A so his name would mean something. Noche Bueno means Night Good.
Noche Buena means Good Night. :?:

I think every language except English is correct  . We are the backwards ones. In Spanish the noun comes first, then the adjective.... makes sense actually.
Anyway, he looks very nice. Is this the horse that you were interested in a few weeks back, Bailey? What a steal, huh?
Congratulations!

Yes, One in the same. The owners never got back with me on him. They contacted Boyd somehow :-? and then the race was on the get him the blank out of their hands. I don't think he was properly trained and hopefully he can be streatend out. I am sure Boyd can do it. He has "the gift". :D

He is very nice looking! But MAN, what an ordeal! Good for you Boyd on not backing down! Do you have a round pen that you'll be able to work him in? I bet he'll be real nice once properly trained.

I don't have a round pen but my arena works well. I think the biggest issue is to make him feel better. and then get him to realize that following commands is a pretty good thing

What's wrong with his knees?
Boyd R
11-29-2005, 01:11 AM
not sure yet but the sensory test showed reaction in the pocket behind the shoulder which indicates knee pain, Vicky wanted to give him a few days to show any issues from trailer loaking before she works on him. I am trying to get her to wait till Saturday and get her to ride with us in the parade

Well gee, if they've been working or riding him or whatever and he's in pain, no wonder he doesn't want to do anything! Poor guy!! I'm glad she contacted you Boyd. So did you buy him or are you just training him for them?
Boyd R

I am selling him for him though I will have to do some training prior to selling

 Isn't it funny how we get them with full intention of selling them and then we can't stand to let them go!!!!
Boyd R

I don't have that problem. The wife does however. But if Noche does not sell the owner will be more than happy to get back a fixed horse.

Just to "break" him again. Don't cha think?

I think he was broke before he got him. He only was able to ride him a couple a times before Noche bucked him off and stomped him. Which if I am right about his knee pain ya can't blame him. And then the guy done the wrong thing (but most of us are guilty also) he tried bribing him with sweetness.
When I picked him up the first thing his owner did was go over and gave Noche 2 carrots and peppermint candies. I asked him if he was trying to help me or keep the horse.

I know this is an old thread, But, for those of you who are new to the board, I thought would like to know how far Noche Bueno has come since he was first introduced to the board and the difference in him now.
