not sure where to put this, but I'd like to thank Barb Preiss for letting me add Eminente to her list of Coral LaCE sons on her website.... That makes the largest number of Coral sons (5) listed on any one site. I really need to get a current picture of Emi - he looks spectacular this year in his new spring coat even at age 20!

Thanks, Moniece... There are so few direct Coral sons left that it is an honor to own one. There are only maybe 9 or 10 who are still breeding. The daughters are also excellent, but they are all getting older and the time will come too soon when direct sons and daughters will no longer be availablle. Emi has 4 mares he will be breeding for us this year - 2 are direct Cantante de Omega daughters (one of those is Bronce's dam) - a proven, excellent nick with Coral sons - and 2 are Corito de Vez daughters - which also appears to be a nick that is producing excellent offspring. I am hoping for fillies from them to replace the mares as the Cantate mares are 19 and 24, and the Corito mares are belly leases.

We are fortunate that Emi is looking and feeling spectacular this year at 20 years old. His coat is just a slick and shiny as it has been, he is still very much interested in the girls, and he now has access to a paddock full of knee-high grass that makes him think he's got it pretty good here! :D The sun isn't up too high yet this morning, I should try to get some pictures. He is so dark, it's hard to get really good shots of him once the sun is overhead...

He is on Platform Performace feed, grass hay, and pasture about 6-8 hours a day at this time

That is an honor, And you really do need some more photos's of him. That one does not do him justice.! He is a very nicely put together stallion. But it's his manners that shine through

Congradulations Sandy & Emi.
You Know how I feel about the grand get like Bronce & Obrizo Juan Sinsonte
Eminente has a fine looking pinto stallion son also that has some size & height to him.Lindsay has ridden him around mares for miles and and speaks highly of his calm quiet good dispostion which is a tribute to his lines. Brisco de Pluma I think is his name.

Congrats Sandy, your Bronce is one special guy!
We are extremely fortunate to have both Eminente - a Coral son - and Bronce - a Sundancer Mako (by Coral) son.

But you can't have a great breeding program without good mares and a good nick between bloodlines is essential! The Coral sons crossed on Cantante and Corito daughters have proven themselves repeatedly. That consistency is what I'm aiming for.... knowing what I can expect to get - not a hodgepodge of bloodlines with unreliable results... Unreliable could mean excellent or horrible - but will it likely be repeated - for good or bad? Knowing what is consistently produced is paramount to a good breeding program...

We tried a new cross with a first year stallion and a maiden mare this year and were pleased with the results - very pleased... but I can't guarantee the same positive results again unless we do the same match-up several more times to see what the 'average' production turns out to be.

With my Coral/Cantante/Corito (PR) bloodlines, I have a much better chance of knowing what the nicks will produce - and that's what I'm aiming for... :)

Sandy....hopefully your stallion will have many more productive years left. My paso(hilachas grandson) just turned 30 and is still "having fun" with his girlfriend (coral lace offspring, pictured above). Unfortunately he was gelded at age 16 but doesn't know it yet.

Congratulations!

They are a hardy bunch! Emi looks as good this spring as he has looked every other spring. Looks like the sun might be right for some pix, be back in a while with the results.... :)....

Edited:
NOT! Turned him out and he went down like ton of bricks to roll! No pix today!

We are extremely fortunate to have both Eminente - a Coral son - and Bronce - a Sundancer Mako (by Coral) son.

Oops...yeah I knew that! Forgot it was Emi that was the son, not Bronce. Both great horses!

Sandy, I too feel honored. When Eminente was born, I knew he was special--he had a certain presence about him and was very proud looking--therefore the name Eminente! Congratulations. Here is a pic of him when he was thee years old. Michele

Sandy, you know how much we love Emi and we recommend breedings to him to anyone looking to breed to him for prospects for beauty, disposition, and full range of gait., Especially for a good mind suited and really required for the superior trail horse or endurance horse lines proven with many thousands of competion miles .Or you could show a horse like this with a lot less difficulty or expense training. Further depending on damlines bred to Emi with the right homework & education ,I could see a beginner going on to some trails with offspring from both sides of the breedings having trail suited lines. Maybe showing could lay the groundwork for becoming a trail horse we like to see out there. Show quality aethetics and great minds. Serious look here to this stallion being honored by the premier breeder of "trail quality horses."

Thanks, Lindsay... I hate to think we might take him for granted sometimes because there's just nothing bad we can say about him... He's always up for a ride, he's never a problem to handle - on a ride or when we're breeding him. He gave us a scare last winter, but tolerated more indignities (what horse allows himself to be wrapped up in a Christmas afghan???) than you can imagine without a single upset... He's another once in a lifetime horse...

I did manage to sneak up on him and get one shot, but he kept walking up to me... Big disadvantage when one person is trying to get the shot! Unfortunately, it was at the wrong angle to show his spectacular dapples. :frown:

Emi is 20 this year.... and particularly interested in all the ladies! How does _he_ know what we've got planned for him??? :D

It's really nice to have a stallion you can breed and turn right around and take on a trail ride with zero complications....

He looks marvelous. It was Ed who said all those things about Emi but Lindsay would say similar things and feels as I do about him.

He's looking great Sandy. A real keeper!

Don't you love a stallion with good sense. They are such a delight.

I wish more people looked at tractability and good sense as well as gait, conformation and appearance. There are plenty of really lovely stallions out there but of those there are those special few who are also really sensible and well behaved. Yes part of this is training but part of this is born in them. Even Brilliant who is as hormonal as a three year old can be with mares 15 feet away is still an angel when I go to catch him and lead him to his feeding area. Before you breed, ride the stallion you are interested in if there is any way possible. If not make sure you know that the stallion can be ridden and not just by one of these gifted trainers who can ride anything. It makes a big difference in the offspring. Do you really want to have to deal with a nutcase crazy foal? I sure don't.

It was Ed who said all
Well then, thanks Ed! ;)

We aren't riding Emi as much right now that we have Katie and Boogie (and maybe Rosie) coming up, but he's still our go-to ride for newbies... and a great trail horse who will go anywhere, anytime.... a true pleasure... :)
