Are you serious? He's 11 years old. He is not "older". If he is all that they say he is, he is worth twice that much. Yes, even today. I would question that he IS all they say he is at that price. People are ALWAYS giving horses away. The ones that noone wants.

Horses are going like snail hotcake around here. I found a foundation QH fully trained in western pleasure for just 6k and she is only 3 years.

Ain't that the truth..... seems like on average I am offered one free horse a week now...last week it was an APHA paint gelding...which I strongly suspect had navicular by the shape of one of his front hooves, the way he walked (toe hit ground first) and the strange stance he stood in.
They don't want to spend any money on him and they can't send him to a slaughter plant... though if he ends up at the local auction...It will about be a death sentence on a fast truck to Juarez.

YESTERDAY...a Peruvian breeder tried to get me to take a colt that will be a year old in July...little pitifull fella...big pot belly, ewe necked...registered and free.... If I hear of a 4-H kid needing a project... he would be free to them...

I already have a free colt coming my way this weekend...
I sure can't save them all... hay is $8.35 a bale today....
They have to have some kind of a future before I will take them...

The market here is TERRIBLE... not one hit on the El Picaflor gelding I advertised on here for a lady...and several other sites...."Genuine" show horse... but not a horse for just anybody....

Horses are getting dumped a lot out here... thats a fact.
rescues are full and can't afford to feed them....shall we send them all down to Bo Derek's or Willy Nelson's to feed and care for????

I believe you Erin...I see the same thing here every week!

No, if he's what they say and is sound he's worth a lot more. Monarca de Besilu was one of the top stallions in our breed. He also seems to throw tall babies. We board next door to a Monarca stallion and he is quite tall and very nice. Our old mare Vanidosa was bred to him twice. His stud fee was very high. We've seen one of the offspring and she's a full hand taller than her mom. I would definitely check him out. Monarca is the sire of Simbolo, another great of our breed.

Good horses are not given away unless the owner is in dire financial straits or is ill or died. Lame, nasty, unrideable horses have always been available free or really cheap.

So everyone is saying he is worth a look see. I have already called the lady on the flyer. She is the owner of the boarding facility. I only got her voicemail. I am expecting a call back.

You do know that you could visit Stella and buy Solazo for 2200. He is the same age.

11 is a great age. We must have looked at 100 paso finos before we leased our first one. I think they choose us, not the reverse:biggrin: We've looked at the very cheapest to the most expensive and the price didn't really matter. It was the horse that mattered. So go look at Solazo too.

I agree he is not old a horse is not right for trails mentally until around eight if riden plenty from five years on(takes about three yeears to have something trailworthy). I like his famous old show bloodlines pretty well and $3k is not much for a trail ready horse. Good trail horses should cost more than that. I think geldings should be around $3500-$3800 mares start at $4K and depending on age, lines ;trail proven events, sports or trail worthy trophies, miles, parades or ribbons stallions could be from $5K to $15K starting prices.even now since trail horses take so much more preperation and work than show horses.test ride test ride and compare but go for it if you click. price is the least of worries when you find one that works you would not sell him(her) or trade them for anything or any price if you match up.

I definitely would if I were you!My Gracie is SO polite and such an easy keeper. And brio...she's full of it.Not nervous at all either, just great controlable brio. She is very smart and level headed. She does look for alot of reasurance and it is very important for me to have a good clear plan before begining to work with her but she's just coming two y/o this summer so thats natural. And actually begining with a good clear plan should always be done...at any age anyway.Shooting from the hip would just be beging for disaster,I feel,at any age.I myself am extremely happy with her and my experience with the bloodline.Hope this helps :-).Your friend,Mo

He's in his prime age wise, especially if he has received good care. His sire's stud fee was that much and more at one time. Plus its harder to find Paso Finos that tall at 14.3 for that price. If he is spookproof as they say, he may be a bargain. For "Intermediate" level rider just means someone who knows how to ride to me. In reality marketing horses as "for a beginner" is a horse that really just likes to walk and stop, and not do much at all.

Go for it, go for a test ride......... you never know.

monarca de besilu has been on the PFHA top 10 sire list probably a number of times and he was a national fino champion. the 'de Fantasy' part says he was bred from Fantasy paso fino which is the owner of Jaranero, a gorgeous black fino. and last, i believe there's a you tube of soeverano de fantasy if you do a search.

She called me back yesterday. Levi has been sold. She told me she has alway rode pasos and he and her just did not click. She new she was giving him away. I told her I wish I had seen him first. I would have loved to give him a test ride. She said he was not trained properly. Some man in landrum trained him. Anyway, I thought I would ask her about the riding lessons. I figure if I have to pay 40 dollars to get some riding in I might as well take lessons. LOL Its to bad it has to be on a QH. I think I have hit the desperite stage. I am willing to take any horse to get some rides in. That is so sad.:(

If I were you I'd find out who he was sold to because if he's difficult in any way he may end up on the market again!

There are several good trainers in Landrum including Pat and Cese Figueroa and Rita McGaha.

What is the name of the boarding barn?? I only know of one in Simpsonville. You can PM me if you wish.
