For those of you that like to show off your horses, but not neccessarily in the breed sanctioned show, there are a couple of All Breed shows coming up this spring/early summer with Gaited and Paso Fino classes in the Northeast Florida area. Gail Shrine puts on some well organized shows and has always been a big supporter of us gaited horse owners.
There is a show at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds on May 17 with open halter classes and gaited pleasure classes. I won't be able to make it to this one as my son has a soccer tournament that day.
There is another, bigger show being held June 20th ans 21st at Canterbury in Newberry. The halter classes will be the evening of the 20th with Open and Gaited breed classes. Then on the 21st there will be several riding classes for all gaited breeds and some specifically for Paso Finos. If I haven't sold my stallion by then I plan to take him to it. If he does sell before that show, I'll take my gelding instead.
Anyway, here is the link to Gail's website with the classlists to her shows...

Gail Shrine's shows are not affiliated with PFHA, unfortunatley. She does, however, have her shows sanctioned with AQHA, APHA, ApHA, FOSH, and AHA as "alternative competition" shows where you can accumulate points for those respective breed registries. It would be nice if PFHA adopted a similar program for those of us who cannot afford to show at the PFHA sanctioned shows, or perfer the more laid back atmosphere of the local show Open show ring.
On the other hand, Gail's shows are fun, upbeat, and family oriented. They are a lot more laid back and because it is an All Breed show there will be a more diverse group to show off our breed to. Unfortunately I won't be making to this show as my stallion will be off breeding mares (yeah). Gail will have another, two day show later in the year. Just check her website regularly. Oh, and she posts a link on her site to the show photographer's site once the show photos are ready for viewing.

PFHA does have that as folows....

3. "L" Shows. A Local ("L") show shall be
either:
a. A show with (I) no more than twenty
(20) Association recognized classes, (ii) which is part of
an all breed show the majority of the classes of which are
non-Paso Fino classes and (iii) which is not an USEF Regular
Member Show; or
b. A show held in conjunction with a
Regional Group clinic, an Association judges and stewards
clinic or a training clinic. There is no limit on the
number of classes. There will be no USEF affiliation.
c. A show with a maximum of 30
Association recognized classes and which is not a USEF
sanctioned show. There is no requirement for other breeds
classes or a clinic to be held in conjunction with this
show, although those would be optional. There will be no
34
limit to the number of this type of “L” show which a region
may hold in a given year.
4. “AB” Shows. An All Breed (“AB”) show shall
be: (a) a show with no more than twenty (20) Association
recognized classes, or (b) a show which is part of an AB
show with the majority of the classes being non-Paso Fino
classes and said AB show shall not be a USEF sanctioned
show.

not too late to get the stuff together for sanctioning Jun show then. Does the fine print say USEF has to approve of PFHA or both I think I see a simple submit if meets criteria? And if I remember it is the Judges having a PFHA card that does the trick right ?/Well Canterbury is a huge venue and close to many like Ocala and so i would think if the show casing of our finest was important for john q public this should come to pass by the ones that always show to the same customers and need to expand thier marketing base for success.
Should be a good show.I have gone to that facility. Huge turnout.
