Wouldn't you think with the gas prices and the food prices along with everything else, it would be a good idea to stock up on your everyday things?
I would rather go to Costco, or some place like that, and pay the high price for bulk than go to the grocery store and pay the high price for one.

Bulk isn't _always_ cheaper. I was shopping yesterday and found two common household items that were actually _more_ expensive in the larger quantities. Always pays to check... Having said that, I did but a month's worth of several items that I can't get in bulk locally. Sometimes bulk items get overlooked and wasted, so - not a bargain in the long run. My main savings will be in not having to make several 35 mile roundtrips to pick up these items.

If you have the storage space it's always cheaper to stock up during the sales. I love Publix because they do a lot of 2 for 1 sales on a variety of items. Of course they have other things that are quite pricey but we don't buy them generally. Their house brand cola is quite good also and very cheap. Of course colas aren't good for you but they work like charm if I get a migraine or a stomach virus. :rolleyes:I like their other house brands too. And for any of you who don't know this I have friends who have worked in canneries and they will tell you that one run for a canned fruit like peaches will have a dozen different labels on the cans and all will have different prices for exactly the same peach. So don't think the house brand is necessarily not as good. Many times it's the same thing. But don't stock up on house brand until you try it because we got the most TERRIBLE house brand frrozen pizza once. YUKKKK! And this is from a store whose house brands are usually fantastic.

My thought is, buying thing like tea, cleaners, trash bags, condiments, soap, ect, things that will keep but you use on a regular bases.
Yes, I agree you need to pay attention to what you are buying especially in bulk. You can get it cheaper other places. And I know having room is a big problem also. That is Jim's put off. But hey, when a dozen eggs are $0.50 an egg. I would much rather have my own chickens to lay them for me. But, like a barn, I have no place for a coop.

I have an uncle who works for Sara Lee here in Greenville, SC. And he is always giving me bagels. I asked him why one day and he told me it was because the bagels don't keep fresh but for so long unless you freeze them right away. And allot of the time they over bake and after the trucks are stocked with fresh bagels and breads he gets to buy them for a quarter a bag.

We have about 10 Guineas... I have heard that Guinea eggs are exceptionally good. We have a coop and I'm thinking that keeping them up could be a good thing to collect eggs! They're free range now to keep the ticks in check... It's the main reason I put up with the _noise_! ;)

If you use the Guineas for bug control. Get you some Road Island Reds and coop them for laying. Their eggs are what I grew up on. When I started buying eggs in the cartan I thought their was something wrong with he eggs. They didn't taste right for one and two they were way to small for scrambleing one, I had to scramble two to get the amount of scramble eggs i wanted to my breakfast.
oh, Guineas eggs are good for eating and recipes. They are just small.
