It was very cold over Thanksgiving weekend - low 20s, then today it spiked up to 60 degrees and we went for a ride! by Thursday it is supposed to be rain/snow. Go figure, welcome to New England.

Hey...welcome to Texas...the only place in the USA where you are wearing long underwear in the morning and t-shirts and shorts by mid-afternoon!!! ;-)

Hey Carol, you can do that in Montana in the summertime!! It's crazy there! Here in N. Florida, it's a balmy 71.4 and humid. Yuck - I can't Christmas shop until it's cold enough to at least feel like winter.

Pam ... I'm curious. Speaking as one from the frozen north, where Santa and his reindeer have real SNOW to land on, I have to ask ... how "cold" does it have to get in N. Florida before it feels like winter? *grin*

LONG UNDERWEAR IN THE SUMMERTIME??? No, thank you, ma'am!

Ya know, the hardest thing to adjust to when I moved to the Great Southwest was the fact I could do my Christmas shopping in short sleeves! You're right, it sure don't feel like Christmas!

Jane, last year, Austinites got a taste of the North when it snowed a measurable 1 1/2 inch here. They were out dancing in it and making snowmen...you would've thought it was raining dollar bills!!! ;-)

Obviously (since I live so close to you) it's wet here too. It's not quite as bad in Raleigh, but up in Wake Forest, where the horses are, it's nasty. Pitty was all muddy when I got him out today, but we were able to ride around the field and the footing was pretty good. We had fun together as always. At 6:15 I taught a lesson and right at the end it began to dump buckets. I have a feeling I'll have to cancel my lessons tomorrow afternoon :sigh: OH well. We're in a drought, so we do need the rain!

It's funny how different the weather is all over the country. Like in the north west it is most likely cold, and down in florida it's in the 60's.

I'm just glad I'm not in Kansas or Nebraska....snowing, 60 mph winds, the highways are all closed.

Of course, I'm not going to speak TOO SOON, supposed to start snowing at midnight and snow until Wednesday night AND windy. So, it may get bad here too.

The weatherman says we'er in a 14-day wet period and next we get 14 days of dry...starting Saturday, so HOPEFULLY will get to ride this weekend. We'll see.

Rained this morning, 70's. We needed the rain very badly so I am not complaining at all. Just that it messed up the only time we have been able to schedule a ride for months! And supposed to do the same thing next week on my friend's day off. Oh, well.
A lot of people still don't have roofs, and the FEMA roofs are deteriorating badly on some.

Rain??!!! What's that? We had a T-storm in July, one in August and a day of mist in early November. All our top soil is being blown away and we're living with a layer of dust on everything!
SEND RAIN OUR WAY! Heck, send snow--we'll take any moisture we can get.

The wind is blowing like crazy here. Amante and Mojo have been whinnying a lot this morning, like they are trying to tell me something. I can't figure it out, everything seems OK. Odd.....

The temps have warmed up so much we lost our 8" of snow in half a day. We are supposed to get inches of rain in the next couple of days. Poop!

Weather is up and down here too - Fri had snow - then wind then upper 50's and rain - now temps are going down ! Monty and Jr are having a Muddy Man contest - trying to see how much mud they can get on themselves
Just wish it would settle down - 30 right now with 18 wind chill - plus damp ! Brrrrrrrrrrrr :-?

Hey Jane, I can't speak for anyone else but I have been known to don the long johns when it hits the low 50's! I know it's pitiful but what do you expect from one bred and raised in the deeeeeeeep south?! But I do believe that the winter I spent in Montana was really not as cold as the winters in North Florida. It's so wet and humid here that it gets kind of bitter. And we don't even get the snow to pretty it up

I was in Scotland one year when it was late fall, early winter. I thought I was gonna die! What a wet, bone chilling cold they get! Takes hours and hours of heat, hot baths and even more hot toddies to warm the body after that! It's awful, so if that's what you get in N. Florida, you can have it, thanks! I'll take my nice, dry cold any day!

When it's -20 here (that's your ... oh, about "10 below zero"), as long as you bundle up, you're fine! People go out for hours at a time. They downhill ski at -20 (though that is about the bottom end of the range for that particular activity). At that temperature, it's too cold to snow, and usually the sky is bright blue with a glaring sun that bounces off the white snow. Very pretty...and you warm up in no time when you come inside.
