I have been reading this site and have e-mailed about info but wondered if anyone has used them or something like them.:cool_new:

I'm really seriously thinking of getting a pair for our 2 older horses that are not ridden much but are outside a lot and our terrain around here is very rocky so they gimp a bit from walking on the gravel :frown:but would rather go outside than be cooped up.:duh:
if it works for them may try it on some of the others but not the show horses for the rules reason:crazy:
any opinions??

Get some of the sole protectant for them. I am still half asleep so I can't think of the product names. I will get back to you with those.

In cases like that, I just always suggest a regular keg or aluminum keg with a leather pad. Cost effective and very protective. It is even used on the Budweiser Clydesdales to keep their feet protection when they are out and about.

Rubber shoes are a great concept, but don't work well in reality. My farrier had someone bent on having them on her horses. Can't shape them well to the foot, the nails don't hold them on well, forget glue unless your horse is stalled 24/7, and they don't reset well. A good keg shoe with a rubber pad is much better.

I've used Ground Control shoes before. They are a plastic material and not rubber.
They worked well on my Paso that I used them on - he gaited better in them than in metal shoes - go figure.
I would recommend the clear ones not the black. The clear is easier to see what is going on when it's being nailed on.
I would notice sometimes too much grass and guck would get hung up in the center part that goes down the middle.
On the website they tell you how to trim that off - if I use these shoes again I'll trim that piece out for sure.
I could always get several resets from them - they wore well even on rocky trails in my case.
Their website is: http://www.plastichorseshoes.com/
The nice thing is they don't require anything special to put them on etc...
Just one more brand to consider.
