It is a Toshiba, satellite 100A. Nice! I was on a mac, and having so much trouble and it was a great deal at best buy!!
I have spent the last 4hrs downloading software and lots of fun stuff.. I have to relearn how to use a pc again! I am gonna miss some mac programs, but hopefully learning the pc programs of my photoshop will be easy...
I am a bit upset thought, it is XP but only gave me a 60day trial for word and excel, and I really want those programs.. sucks... Other than that, I hope to have lots more funcinality and be able to chat too!

Well I broke down and bought a Dell last night - the Inspiron 1300. The Toshiba is a better buy and a more powerful machine. I also paid extra for a one year warranty. I did upgrade to the 15.4 display, got a network card free and free shipping but they charged me TAX. Bummer! It has only 256MB memory and a 40gig HD but I have an external HD that I keep pictures on so 40gigs should be fine. The one I got has an $80 instant rebate with a $100 mail in rebate which I hate but which we do send in. It'll be $569 after the rebate which isn't bad. We really need it because we lost an entire system pretty much last summer from brownouts.

Well it was only 1 month of board.. not alot....
I do get a $200 computer reimbsmt from work too! it is a employee benifit.. way cool..
MotorG: that is a bummer! I was there at 12noon, got that last one! I was lucky!
Dell is still a good comp. Bummer about your memory size though.. But for everyday use 256mb should be fine for you. I save lots of original size digital images and the files are big so I really needed this 512mb I got! And it has the 15.4 screen already, dont know if I like that big screen, I am used to my nice compac Mac Screen it was about 13.5..lol
Guess u and I both are going to have long nights setting up our new computers!!lol

I'm sure I'll upgrade the memory but will be looking for a bargain there also. It can wait. I already have CD's for Office and a lot of other programs from my destops. I can offload the pictures onto the laptop when we travel, then move them to the external hard drive later and erase them to save hard drive space. I'd like to get the six cell battery also and the car charger. One thing I don't know if this computer has and suspect it doesn't is connections for things like a wireless mouse. I hate laptop mice! It's the strip down model but is a lot better than the pentium300 we have at the house.

I didn't realize when I just got this new Sony that the Word was a trial version. Used to come with the stinkin' computers! I was so PO'd! I called Sony and let them have what for, not to mention this computer is a piece of garbage. As is their service, by the way.

I've heard that Dell is not as good as they used to be. That's a shame I had a used dell laptop that was great. It just got antiquated.

Yeah, I was surprised it didnt come w/word or excell, what a rip..lol
But it is still a great computer and I am VERY happy with it!! :D
I have a the photoshop elements now too, so my artistic photos may become more artistic too!! :D (that didnt come with it either, took it from my sister..lol)
I too heard Dell is getting sloppy, never would go w/compaq or HP. I was told by MANY IT professionals Toshiba is becoming top of the line in Notebooks! Yiippeeee :D
