I don't know what it is with the 8's and Rosalita but on the 8th day she started nursing and yesterday on her 18th day she decided to start eating her mom's food out of my hands.I sure hope I don't have to feed her by hand till her 28th day  !I swear one more eight and she is going to be 888 Rosalita LOL.And HER MOM,her mom is taking every oportunity to teach her everything she can INCLUDING ESCAPING  !!I forgot to shut the gate before I let them out of the stall and run and wouldn't you know it,that mare went right for it and headed right down the long drive way to the road with Rosalita right with her  !!ThankGod Randy had put up one low strand of electric tape around the place to make a huge yard so the dogs would stay in!!And thankGod she didn't decide to jump it!!It was freezing out there and i'm out there trying to round horses back in while they are just having a blast  !Momma was nervous but excited and no way was she gonna let me catch her but luckily I got her where she thought she could not pass me and she ran back in!WHEW,i'll never forget to shut that gate again!
And Chica, does anyone else have a horse that kicks at it's tail or imaginary things behind it when it eats???Surely I can't be the only one with clowns all over my place!Your friend,Moniece

Sounds like Rosalita is doing wonderful! Can't wait to see photos! Yes, two of mine, Princesa, the yearling in my baby photos, and Devante, my colt, both HATE it when their tails blow between their legs, and hate it even worse when they're wet!! They will kick at their tails, and spin in circles trying to bite them! So funny!

GOOD ONE Coreen.... great chuckle for this morning!

Monice...that filly should be ready to eat by now...mine usually share mom's grain at about 5 or 6 days old....so, just put a little bucket or container down for the filly too....

GLAD to hear she sounds "so normal"... ;-)

Yeah, she doesn't let us see nearly enough of how that filly is growing up, does she?

Actually I caught Encantador doing just this last night, he nailed the wall a couple of times. I hve no idea why, and he doesn't do it often, not colicky. I'm trying to remember who else has done this but its been a while.
