Well, this is the pits... I headed out the door, jumped in the truck, got on my way to work...when my boss Joe calls me on my cell and tells me there are two crashes on Woodman rd. (my main way to town), a 24 car pile up on I-25...and that he has not seen any traffic move on I-25 for the last hour....
AND...to STAY HOME....so, I turn my truck around (was only two miles from home when the call came) and now I miss another days pay...

I call my husband and tell him I'm turning around, and he says...go home and "watch Opra"...you don't need to be out in this weather... I'd much rather you stay home and warm... (its about 12 below zero today)...I say "but I will miss another days pay"... and he says.... "An emergency room visit far exceeds a day's pay my dear".... "Please go on back to the house and don't worry about it...and don't you dare feed this evening...you wait till I get home and I will feed"..

I swear....I am married to the world's greatest man.... I am SOOO darn lucky..... ;-)

Terry, there were just under 600 accidents here when the storm went through Utah...they are saying it is the worst driving day in Utah history. I was glad I stayed home (I've been home sick all week).

Terry, you shouldn't miss a day's pay. If your boss told you NOT to come in, you should stil get paid. That's our policy anyway. If we tell our employees not to come in because of severe weather, we pay them anyway. If they don't come in just because they don't want to, then it's a vacation day or LWOP.

It's -12 here but they say it feels like -30. How can they tell? Once it gets down in the single digits and below, it's all cold to me!! Stay warm, Terry!!

Debbie... I used to work for a company that paid 12 days a year...for you to use for sick or whatever....Not including 2 weeks paid vacation....

Times are a changing though... I now work part-time (7 hour days) for a private shop..he pays very well, but he has no benies, vacations, or paid days when you don't work.

Colorado Springs economy is not a good one...
