OK Here's the real deal
On April 22nd I am going to put on a surprize birthday party for Grace. The 21st is her birthday but I want her to think I FORGOT.
Also I got about 8 acres of fences that need painting SO I figured why not incorporate the two.
Here's the rules for the painting party..
1. Bring your own brushes.
2. Sprayers allowed but sorry no electriic for sprayers.
3. We start at 9 am painting.
4. Paint fences till 12 noon or earlier
5. The person or couple painting the most fence boards will win $100
6. and 2nd Place $50
6.Third Place $25
At noon we will have
A.Southern Fried Chicken
B.Southern Baked Ham
C. Cole Slaw
D. Bisquits
E. Watermelon and Ice Cream
F. Baked Beans
And all kinds of refreshments
and of course Birthday Cake.
After dinner we will go on a trailride. So Make sure you bring a horse or yur gonna have to walk behind the group. THIS WILL BE MANDATORY so that everyone enjoys the opportunity of the trailride.
I would like for those attending to make up some type GAG (as in funny) gift for Grace. If you have to bring her a bag of horse poop from your horse.
DO NOT spend a lot of money for gifts. You do and I will hear about it for months how little I spent for her gift.. Just Kidding about the hearing thing because Grace and I enjoy our life together but we do DISAGREE sometimes. LOL
Anyway mark your calendars and if you want to have a great time and good food and enjoy your horses e-mail me if you are coming so I know how much food to cook.

Not to be a party pooper, but this thread really annoys me. I asked several people not long ago on this board, including Bob, about getting together to help a lady and her husband who go out of their way above and beyond the call to help others on this board, and I got not one bit of help along the way, and it was for the same darn thing. One afternoon of painting, and now, here it is a request for the same thing, with monetary compensation and people are jumping on it. I asked the Paso friends helping friends and was told and I quote "I have too much on my plate right now but good luck". I didn't ask anyone for money, just for a few helping hands to show up on this lady's doorstep with paintbrush in hand, she has all the paint ready, but nobody to help. Yes, I'm annoyed..VERY annoyed..and, honestly..disappointed.

As you may have noticed we try to help anyone and if the party that needed help painting was closer we would have been on the front line.
I hope this does not cause any problems but please give credit where credit is due! and criticise where appropriate.
Thank you

Actually Bob, I have thanked you personally for the ad several times, as well as mentioned it to many other people how kind you were about it. However, don't forget you said it was in thanks to my donation of a costume which will cost me a good deal of money out of my pocket too to help you and your parade going. I gladly helped out because I could.
Yours was not the only name I mentioned. I should however have mentioned that Lori on this board gave me some great suggestions as did Crystal, referrals to perhaps find people close to the people in question. I did not use your name as a "blast" as in saying you personally would not help, I was referring more to the fact that nobody was willing to help, but now money is involved they are. Sorry if you took that the wrong way.

Thank you
You and I have had a chance to talk in the chat room and I think both you and I have solved any problems that might have been real or unintended. That was very nice of you and I appreciate it.
I am sure that everywhere misunderstandings happen and that was all it was to me. Thank you again and yes you are correct sometimes when you offer some type of reward you get more response. But please try to understand I just wanted for my wife Grace to have a nice birthday with her friends.
I am sorry if it was taken any other way. Please forgive me.

I know that in this age of lawsuits people are reluctant to do things like this but local youth groups at churches will generally help with things like this. Our students painted our fishing cabin free in exchange for a homemade spaghetti dinner and just a chance to hang out with kids they liked.
Leigh remember that Bob is in paso territory. There are many people near enough so it isn't a real hardship to get to him. We can't go because we're too far but would love too. Free food and a party is one of the best way to get people to do things and it doesn't hurt to make it a contest either.
If people told you they really couldn't at that time they probably were telling the truth because this group really has shown a willingness to help when they can. Honey draws more flies than vinegar and Bob knows how to lay out the honey!!

Not a problem Bob, as you say we have sorted the problem. Kyle, no offense but there are circumstances here you don't understand, and I won't drag it all out now it has been sorted, but just so you know, the other people who required the help are within reach of a lot of people here, and any distance needed to get to many people on this board when they help is needed isn't even a consideration for them when the shoe is on the other foot. 'nuff said.

I should mention that everyone that called or sent messages they were coming were all neighbors or local folks except Leila . She lives almost 100 miles away.
Should be a lot of fun so anyone who wants to come and enjoy the day is welcome and you might get lucky and go home with some cash as well.
I just thought making the painting part as contest would permit some of the kids who will be coming a chance to earn some spending money and at the same time maybe beat out some of the adults. I know one family that is coming will certainly be competing against each other not only for a cash prize but they all compete against each other in horse shows and love it.
Anyway the real reason for the day is Grace's birthday and so she doesn't have to paint fences. :D
