The small country town of Greenville, Florida yesterday and today paid tribute to Ray Charles a former Greenville resident.
A Concert was held at North Florida Community College last night and the memorial services and presentation of the bronze statue of this legendary musician was made by the children of Ray Charles and the town of Greenville. His daughter sang "America The Beautiful" a song that Ray Charles loved to hear and play. It was a very moving ceremonyand just about everyone in town turned out for it.
The statue is of Ray Charles sitting at his piano keyboard. I'll try to get some pictures posted soon. The program is still going on until 5 Pm tonight in the city park in Greenville.
