Great pix PasoVideos! You did a great job. ;-)
You guys...my class was SO SCARY! Plus I started fretting about it as soon as I opened my eyes that morning. :-? Just ask PasoMom, I'm a big worrier and fretter. Then I worry and fret some more. I had myself so worked up by the time the show rolled around, I was trying to think of any excuse to scratch. Then after the first class I realized that after they do the rail work, each horse goes over the board twice and then they do a cut before the 8's and serpantine (which was my biggest fear). I figured I'd be excused by that point so I started trying to worry less. ;-) Got in the arena....wanted to hurl big time. We were doing pretty good. Nice corto, but for some reason I couldn't get the largo out of her that I usually do on the farm so I was really pushing her to move forward. Then came the boards. The first one was passable, but on the second trip I felt I needed to push her a little b/c her engine was dying and she went trochado right over the board. They excused us right after that. I don't think I have ever been so happy to be excused in my whole life. *sigh of relief  When I rode her back to the barn, of course she was perfectly in gait and largoing. *Could have been b/c I finally started to breath agian?
Anyway, a lot of folks said I rode really good and it was more the horse than me (this time). *Thanks for making me feel good gang. ;-) The a/o class was much easier and I would have kicked some booty in that class. The judges were much more forgiving....believe me.
OK gang, I'll be checking it, but I must leave around 4 today for Las Vegas. I'm off to see the new facility for the July Gold Cup show. 8-) I'll be back w/pix and a great story I'm sure.
Enjoy the Gold Cup coverage. btw- I have heard A LOT of positive feed back from spectators who did not attend last time....they LOVED it! Next time they plan to bring their horses.

Thanks so much Lori for sharing your "show ring" experiences. When I take my horse to the first show in a couple months, it helps to know that all my thoughts of "hurling, freaking, and maybe just passing out right there," are normal and shared by others as well!!!
Congratulations on surviving another turn in the ring!

Great pictures...beautiful POTS for decoration!!! I want!! I have a collection of hand-painted Mexican pots just like those, but much smaller (I can't get the big ones in my luggage). They're soooo pretty!
I'll have to go watch the video now.

The single class I most enjoyed was the 1980 National Performance Stallions - I was small potatoes and it was Antares' 4th show... Zero pressure and I _thoroughly_ enjoyed myself - what a blast!!!
Your horse reads you better than you do yourself. If you're worried, nervous, tense - they'll think there _must_ be some reason and will react accordingly every time. Once you enter the ring - training time is over and it's time to enjoy yourself and only focus on helping your horse do his/her best job. Ahhhh - I did love showing in the 'back when'... :D
If you want to show - it should at the least least be fun on some level! (Well, some might like roller coasters for fun, too! )

Class 18 - Fino Four year old fillies- One of the best classes that took place in todays events. From the begining of the class everyone had thier eyes on Gaita de Santa Gertrudis which from the start everyone knew she was going to be number one and that is exactly how it went.

Class 29 - Classic Fino Mares & Fillies Championship - This class had to be better than any nationals class or mundial class that there has been in a while. Maraquita La Rosa and other first place winners in the fino mares division came to strut thier stuff. After a intense work off for the champion of the night, Maraquita la Rosa and Gaita de Santa Gertrudis, Gaita almost taking Maraquita's show crown and reputation for always winning was at jeopardy... after a intese work off and demonstration. A winner was choosen and another was excused. Gaita a very great prospect for the future of fino horses was excused for being pasi-trocha on the board. Maraquita kept her status of Queen and in Reserve La Reina de la Estancia which was a top contender throughout the entire class.

why where the others kicked out and how many
Usually it was that they were "out of modality" in some form, at some point.
Lots of ppl made made mistakes on the figure 8's which took away points.
Pasofinoguy
02-26-2006, 07:59 PM
"out of modality". Does that mean that they wernt able to hold the fino or there collection for the whole class? I just havent heard that term before
