What's in a name...?
Carol...why don't you have a name for your A.I Breeding Operation business separate from your ranch name, a name that tells what it is...non-breed specific and for example region served. This "business" would then be located at: "your ranch name".
just a thought to create more widespread regional interest and to let people know exactly the nature of the "new" business.

Good point Lynn...
How about IDH All-Breed Stallion Station
That way you could search it out under stallion station.

I'd still have in there something about region/area served...no one would know what IDH stands for. Name...short and too the point about what and the area of the business is. I don't know what IDH stands for unless I was told.
for example...my vet is Apex Equine Veterinary Hospital.
They serve the surrounding Apex, NC area ...actually alot larger area, but is located in Apex, and they provide veterinary services to horses.

Good points. I did think of calling it The Lazy IDH Paso Fino Ranch and Breeding Facility but I didn't think I could find a piece of wood big enough for the sign!
When I started the business I was very small in New Mexico and I called it Casa del Paso Fino. When I moved to Texas, the Casa just didn't seem to do it cause I'm here in cowboy country (and believe it or not, Texans are still smarting from the Alamo...so a Mexican reference just didn't go over... ). Then I met my partner-in-crime (which we may just have to turn to if this doesn't make it... :D ) who decided, crazy man, that he wanted to do this with me, and he already had a brand registered in the state of Texas as The Lazy IDH (those are his initials). I liked the sound of it...so the business became The Lazy IDH...and then of course, we found Rojo Tejas (Texas Red)...and the pieces of the puzzle came together!
Now as far as drawing in business from the region, I really don't WANT to become huge...we only have five mare stalls...and there are already three stallion stations fairly close (50 - 70 miles), one of which is my dear veterinarian's. We're just looking to reach the local breeders (who are hauling their horses to those three and not quite happy with them) and offer them something a little different for their money. There's enough QH breeders in the area to provide a nice market. We will go by word of mouth for now and see where that gets us. ;-)

Rojo Tejas is beautiful. His color is wonderful; looks like he's on fire. I could sit and watch him all day.
Good Luck with the opening.
